Coffee and Caffeine effects on PE gains

I drink maybe 8 cups per day on average....

Someone on another forum has suggested that the fact that I am hard gainer may be explained by my coffee drinking habit. I did google the idea... I haven't seen anything conclusive but I have found it wasn't the first time the idea has been discussed.

The most annoying thing about coffee is that every six months, there is new research paper on coffee contradicting the last one.

Sometimes drinking coffee is good. Sometimes it is bad...

Anyone has thoughts on coffee and PE? Is there a member here who had a hard time to gain then cut coffee and then suddenly started to gain?

My daily intake is around 1-2 cups, usually about 1,5 cups. Overall drinking a lot of coffee can dehydrate you strongly as it is diuretic in nature.
So if you want to keep up with drinking over 4 cups a day I would really pay attention to how much your water intake is.

I personally like coffee and feel that in moderation it can be enjoyed. But 8 cups is a bit much, especially if you use any sweeteners etc..
I drink my coffee black. :)

In the past I was likely drinking more coffee, at the moment this 1-2 cups a day suits me fine, it's my after lunch coffee. Can't recall if there was so much emphasis on PE as by those times (several years ago) my PE routines were lacking a lot.

Alright, good, that's a start. Just remember to intake the same amount of water or other balancing fluids.
To me that seems logical but I'm open to hear other opinions. :)
It is confusing what papers they release about coffee indeed.

8 cups?!

Yikes...how is your water intake? Are you sleeping well? Do you drink organic coffee?

I would suggest tracking your gains and losses with your coffee consumption. This will allow you to see if there is a correlation. I would recommend switching to organic coffee for health benefits and reducing any chemicals exposure to the coffee making process.

So I decided to cut down by half my daily consumption. I wanted to cut from 8 to 4 cups of coffee daily. What I did realize was that my consumption wasn't as bad as I did imagine when I started counting. I must be taking 4-5 cups per day instead of 8...

Coffee will not prevent you from gaining.
You need to see over your program if you aren't gaining. I recommend you do either follow the SRT completely, or base your program on the theory and concepts in the SRT.

You need intensity to gain.
