Watched a little bit on Thursday night. The Pats look like they haven't lost a step. Didn't like the Thursday start of the NFL season though. Football should be played at 1 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. I know it's all for the ratings and whatnot; getting more time slots to show football, blah, blah, blah. And I do enjoy the Sunday and Monday night game. But at least start the damn season on Sunday.

The pregame show was ridiculous. It's almost like the game itself is becoming secondary.

I am a Steeler fan, first and foremost, but I root for Philly as my NFC team. I grew up a Philly fan watching Randall Cunningham work his magic when I was younger. Once the Steelers got rid of Chuck Noll and some of the old stale mentality around here and got Bill Cowher, I began to really feel attached to the home team. Plus, I realized I enjoy living in Pittsburgh and figure I'll be here for the foreseeable future. Anyway, I'd love to see a Pennsylvania showdown in January.

I have to believe that this is the year someone can catch the Patriots. For starters, winning three consecutive championships would be a feat for any team under any circumstances. Now, they've lost a couple of veteran linebackers that anchored the defense as well as both coordinators. I'd be amazed if they won the Super Bowl this year.

I have always hated the Sox and I think it stems from a stupid reason, but people do things like this. When I was 11 years old, I was at a summer camp and this prick from Boston and I were always getting into fights and whatnot and all he did was talk up the Sox. I was on cloud nine months later when I watched Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Howard Johnson and the rest of the Mets knock them out at the World Series.

Who knows? These things might go both ways. Maybe there is some 30 year-old in Massachusetts that has been gloating over the Pirates being in the basement for years. lol

Don't know about the Bengals, yet. The Vikes' offense is simply atrocious. Dante has five turnovers in two games.

The Steelers look REAL strong. I'd put them at least at the top of the AFC, if not the entire league.

Looks like my Birds recovered nicely from last week. I know it's the Niners they pummeled, but a win is a win.

Vick pulled up a bit lame at the end of the game there. They're really not talking about the extent of the injury. Probably just a slight strain. But Mora has to get Vick to stay in the pocket more. I know the guy can run like a deer, and that makes him a great weapon, but if the Falcons are going to go anywhere in this league, Vick has got to learn to beat teams with his arm. Leave the running to the RB's. They have a good running game without Vick running all over the place. We seen last year how bad the Falcons can get without Vick in the lineup. They can't afford to lose him for any extended period of time.

It's a long season though. A lot of football to be played yet. Although I am looking forward to a Pennsylvania Superbowl.

I haven't looked at the Bengals schedule, but it will be interesting to see what they do against some fierce competition. I wonder if they play the Patriots or any like powerhouse? Pittsburgh sometimes has a tough time with Cincy and I could easily see them going 1-1 with the Bengals this year.

The Rams! Will be a threat this year if we can get our O-line together. I got two words for all STEVEN JACKSON, he is the real deal, big, quick, and will run you down. He could be in the years to come, the best back in the leauge. Considering in his 2nd year he replaced the future hall of famer Marshal Faulk!

Kansas City is looking real good this year, so far. They will be a team to be reconed with.

Whats up with the sputtering offense of the Colts??? They have there defense winning games this year??? WTF

Pitt is strong again! Might go all the way.

Atlanta, with Warrick Dunn, and Justin Griffth why do you need a QB as agile as Vick. They need to get a QB that can make better play decisons out there. Vick is a decent passer and super runner, but IMO he will never led a team to a Super Bowl, unless they make him a Running Back.

There is some pretty good analysis there by crazyed27. I have to like the Colts. As Ed said, they're winning games with their defense, so if the defense is that much improved wait till the offense starts to click.

The Colts with a defense is a scary thought. Although, I still think they need to get home-field throughout the playoffs, which would allow them to play in the dome. I still think they will have problems going to N.E. or Pittsburgh, or any other stadium where the weather may be a factor.

Good point from jGman. The Colts got crushed last year in New England. The year before they played decent against them and those last two shots Payton had to possibly tie it up had blatant pass interference that was ignored.

Someone once said about the New Jersey Devils winning their Stanley Cup in '95 that grabbing jerseys by the fistful is not winning a championship, but cheating your way to a championship. I was really rooting for Carolina because of that, and they almost did it.
