Sounds like a lot of unnecessary effort and expense. A brake bleeding kit with a fluid reservoir would be much cheaper and easier IMHO.

You can if you use an in-line fluid reservoir to capture the water as it's pumped out. I'd do this with a gauged pump to prevent water from entering the gauge and possibly damaging it, that is, if your pump is meant for air only. Or you can get the whole shebang for $25-30 in a brake bleeding kit.
