Service pack 2 is trash. It messed up a couple of my games.
It also messed up outlook exploder! I can't tell what I've looked at a couple of sites I go to as well.

I havent noticed much negative from sp2, nothing positive either.

Still my internet explorer is a pain in the ass, always looking for trouble.
Keeps eating alot of memory, locking up, slow as hell... etc.

Check to see if you got spyware or adware. Maybe do a registry clean because the symptoms you speak of are usually casued by one of the three things I mentioned.

I had the same problem. Downloaded and ran spybot. Now everything is working smoother than buttered butter. LMAO

I've converted from IE to Firefox, very happy with it.

1.0 just came out and it's snazzy. Choose your skin, cool extensions, very nice. Should check it out if you're dissatisfied with IE.

Oh man...Window XP.
In a way it was a simpler time back then. Everything was more physical then, and smartphones and social media was not present.
