Tonight was a WBC heavyweight title fight between Vitali Klitchko and Danny Williams. Vitali was a huge favorite and the current champ. Williams is the guy who beat Tyson earlier in the year, but man he caught an ass whippin tonight. I put a couple bucks on Williams for this fight cuz it woulda pulled in a nice 4:1 type win, but damn he got rocked.

Bah well.

I guess Klitchko really is the man and needs to finally be recognized as the champ.

I watched the special on Klitchko a couple of times this week. It's very sad if he's the best heavyweight in the world. He looks like a million bucks as long as he's just standing around but when he starts moving around trying to box he looks spastic. Also why don't these guys get in shape. I realize that they are big guys but jeez after about four or five rounds they are through. If a good heavyweight would come along right now he could own the sport. I like John Ruiz but the sheer fact that he can be even half competitive shows how bad the division really is right now.

"I guess Klitchko really is the man and needs to finally be recognized as the champ."

Sorry Razed. I just can't agree with that statement. Ruiz and Byrd have both beaten better and higher ranked guys and have had their titles (WBA and IBF) for longer times.
Also, Klitchko has lost his two biggest fight. Until we have someone go out and unify all 3 major titles, I don't see how anyone can claim to be "THE CHAMP".

Just my two cents
kook

Klitcho is the man. I love that guy just because his boxing style is "awkward". As Roy Jones said it is just Beautiful the way he connects with his accuracy and power. I dont believe he lost the fight versus Lenox lewis. I think Lewis is scared he will loose against Klitchko in a rematch and thats why he retired. If he considers himself the "real" champion he should of accepted Klitchko's challenge for a rematch. If you seen the fight YOU all kno that LEWIS got rocked. Klitchko put up a great fight but ultimately lost because of his eye. ANY WAY KLITCHKO IS THE WAY TO GO!

I'm not saying Klit isn't the one day future champ, he just isn't in my eyes "THE CHAMP" right now. Lewis is almost 40 years old and still threw a beating to Klit. That fight only proved to Lewis that it was time for him to retire. How many champs have ever retired on top and stayed retired? Not many. Only Marciano that I can think of(Heavyweight division). The fact is he has lost his two biggest fight. Byrd-he quit and Lewis--on cuts. He cannot dare to call himself as long as the titles are still fragmented and he is fighting guys like Johnson, Sanders and now this loser Williams. Yeah, he rocked Lewis in their fight, but it was Klit who came out looking worse for wear. Hell, I was rooting for Klit in that fight. I have seen that fight about 5 times now and everytime those cuts get uglier and uglier and make me think the fight could have been stopped sooner. What was it about the fight that leads you to believe he "didn't lose it"????

Does Klit look like a winner?

Remember, this pic is after the fight and his cut men have had time to stop the bleeding.......

klitchko was practically out on his feet when the ref. stopped his fight with lewis. lewis would have knocked him out the next round. better for ref. to stop fight, then to actually be k.o.ed. still, he seems to be the best of the rest, for now. impressed with his english skills, he is very intelligent. we will have to see what the future brings to this diminishing heavyweight division.

I don't know if I agree with that or not jack. I think had the fight continued it very well
could have went either way as both men were tired as hell and both were landing huge bombs. Klit was up 4-2 in rounds so thats only a one round difference. Score any of those 4 rounds for Lewis and we have an even fight at 3-3. The point I am making is that in his two biggest name fights, Klit lost both. And the sad part is he was winning both. But they are still losses and he has to live with it. It honestly doesn't matter to me that Klit was beating Lewis at the time of the TKO. I can think of two other title fights off the top of my head that the guy who was "winning" lost the fight. Ali vs Foreman and Forman vs Moorer. In the first, Ali was getting domintated on the ropes and barely throwing anything and binding his time until BAM, the 8th he totally destroyed a worn out Foreman. In the Foreman/Moorer fight, Moorer was clearly way ahead on all the cards then BAM in the 10th he folded like an accordian from a Big George 1-2.

I held on Klitchko, he's a real champ! To bad Iron-Mike took so much drugs, and got into trouble. Or he could still have been undisputed. He is still a champ in my eyes.

If it wasn't for the man's three? cuts above and below his eye especially the one above his eyebrow he would have knocked Lewis out. Klitchko had plenty left in his tank. The stamina was there which is more than anyone could claim for Lewis that night. Lewis looked sluggish and would have gotten caught eventually.

I'm sorry 8, I just can't agree with that. There is no telling what would have happened in the 7th and later rounds. At the end of the 6th Lewis connected with an uppercut that nearly took VK's head clean off and had him holding on for dear life. I don't think it is fair to use the cuts as any type of excuse. Just as you or anyone can say that Lewis would have been knocked out, it is also just as easy to say that VK would have been blinded forever in that eye had it been allowed to continue or at the very least had the cut gotten worse he could have lost his eyelid. I think VK and HW boxing in generel is better served for VK to stop calling for Lewis to come out of retirement and focus on unifying the titles. I would def. make him the favorite over both Ruiz and Byrd.

kooky

kooky is right, watch fight again and it is evident that VK was in serious trouble at end of round. he staggered back to his corner, out on his feet. in the 6th, lewis's punches were much crisper than VK's. lewis would have ended it early in the 7th with 1 or 2 overhand rights.
