I have never really taken any extraordinary vacations. Every other year my family has a reunion in West Virginia at a really nice place and I really don't consider a three hour drive a vacation, but it uses some of my paid vacation time and is a nice getaway. Right now, I'm on vacation from work, because rules state one must take five consecutive days off at least once per year, but I'm too damn broke to go anywhere. It's just deer hunting day after tomorrow.
Last year, I took five days off and went to Toronto to see the CN Tower and the Hockey Hall of Fame. Plus, I think it was the only real vacation I ever managed to hook-up on. I want to go back in January or February and see the spectacular looking winter festival of light thing they have going on that time of year. I like the Niagara region in general. One of my favorite getaways about five years ago was a few days of stream fishing in New York, just outside of Niagara. I'd like to go back sometime over the next year and hit Toronto and the craps table at Casino Niagara on the way up.
For many years, my entire immediate family (parents, sisters & husbands & kids) and I would get together near Sandusky Ohio and spend a week renting someplace right on the shore of Lake Erie. I loved that, but we got away from it for a few years until last year when we all got together again. I guess my oldest sister is thinking about us getting together next summer in Nova Scotia. Not sure why she is leaning towards that, but sounds cool to me.
I've been to Florida and California, but on business. Most of my vacations are a relatively short drive. I still have plans to save up and spend some time in Europe
hanging out with Shafty, whenever possible.
