The 10000 hours theory

How true is that if someone wants to get to a level of perfection or mastery at something needs 10000 hours of practice does it make sense? Let's say if someone spends 5 hours a days practicing doing, training whatever they're into,after one year theyd spent 1680 hours training, to achieve his goal it would take like 6 years maybe more to reach the goal,why 10000 hours where did that number come from? Why not 5000 or 7,000 6,000 etc

To be honest I don’t think we ever get to a place of perfection in anything we do. I think there’s always room to continue to improve. if Perfection was possible life would be pretty boring. Also mastering something is not perfecting it, even master boxers lose occasionally. In mastering something failure is inevitable and at certain points, when that happens, we work to improve it. So I think mastery is a ongoing education that will never be perfected

A very good analogy. I’ve been doing PE for 20 years and I still have not perfected anything. But I have improved many things and I have mastered many things. But perfection, I’ll wait for the day of our Lord ?
