Been reading here on Supra's log and is the ROP still something that people are using for growth or is it not really that effective?

Tell me this, is the effectiveness of the rods diminished if their covered up too much by the tubes to keep them connected. I had a hard time with the one's supplied and am going to buy silicone tubing from Lowes I saw the other day. It's nice and loose and I won't have to worry if I cut too much. I just had a hard time getting it to stay on tight.
