Ring of power copper

I was thinking of constructing my own blakoe ring and I was at the home depot looking at the copper rods and they all have different alloy numbers. On Tom's site it says to buy the one under 10$ and that one is Alloy 110. So do those numbers mean anything? Should this suffice to make an effective blakoe?

I'm not sure what Alloy 110 is. However, keep in mind that an alloy is a blend of two or more metals. Therefore, a copper alloy is copper mixed with something else. That may lower the electrical voltage or affect the toxicity, depending upon what the other metal is.

It is 3/8" refigerator grade cooper.

I've seen the fridge grade copper pipes but the ones I am talking about are solid rods. I figured that it would be better to use a solid rod like the zinc and possibly create a little more voltage. And thanks alot guys for all the help and input on the subject, its all greatly appreciated

A solid rod of copper will generate the exact same voltage as the pipe.

Let me explane on last time for everyone. To clarify

This is non-toxic.

You cannot get anymore volts out of it than .8v.

Anything over .6-.8v is the exact same.

More does not always mean better.

They call it Alloy 110 because that number contains the mysterious and dubious number 11! Feel it's occult magic!

All I'm asking that if the rods are safe to use, I know the fridge piping contains no harmful or toxic metals because it was made to handle drinking water. But is the copper rod as safe as the piping? I would just prefer a solid piece of copper like there is a solid piece of zinc, but of the copper rod isn't safe than I'll just have to deal.

I did a web search on "copper alloy 110" and found quite a few references. It turns out that alloy 110 is 99.9% pure copper, and 0.05% oxygen, the remainder being other impurities. This alloy is often used to make pipe fittings. Therefore, I would consider it safe to use for the ROP.
