Reflect, Give Thanks on 9/11

As a Vet I'd like to invite all of [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/join-now.html]MOS[/words] to stop for a moment and reflect upon any and all of the blessings that each of us
may have received over the past few years.

I'd also like to ask that each of us think about where those blessings may have come from.

On this day, please, join me in thinking about our lives, about our freedoms, about our opportunities and think about those who gave their lives to provide this for us all.

I know that [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/join-now.html]MOS[/words] has an international audience, but I'll run the risk of climbing up on my preacher's perch and ask that all of us think about September 11th and what it means to the world and free men's lives.

There are many, many holidays that commemorate the suffering and sacrifice of men all over the globe. And in the steady march of time, this day, September 11th, will simply become another one of those many, many holidays.

But I would like to invite all of us here to take just a moment out of our busy lives to think about those men who chose to run toward the danger.

Those men who confronted the flames.

Those men who ignored the risk.

Those men who put others lives above their own.

Those men who strove for justice.

Those men who responded to the call.

Those men who recognized the peril, yet still faced death with courage.

Those men who sacrificed without hesitation.

Those men who should be remembered as the heroes that they are.

Those men who should remind us all, every day, of what is best in men.

And those men who confronted evil in its most cowardly and disgusting form with unquestioning heroism and sacrifice and strength.

The tragedy of 9/11 happened in America but its ramifications reach around the entire globe and will continue to do so until evil is eradicated from the soul of mankind forever.

So please, take one moment to reflect upon your lives, your blessings, your opportunities, your freedoms and your futures. Pray one small prayer, each and every one of you, for our brothers and sisters in uniform who through their past, present, future and continuing sacrifices make all the best possible for all of us.

And, please, help their sacrifice be more worthwhile every day forward.
