Pump before sex

Just got a pump (sohimi electronic air pump) and main intention is to use before sex and from a flaccid state attain erection .

1. Was the best routine to attain an erection hard enough for sex ?

2. Tried pump for first time and it enlarged my penis as intended temporarily but not fully hard and the minute hit release valve orbits deflated like a balloon . lol .

You should always go into the pump fully erected, if not you will stretch out the skin. Better to expand the inner tissue and the skin simultaneously, versus the skin and then the inner tissue.

The pump should not be used to attain an erection for sex. A pump is used to improve erection quality aned to make achieving an erection easier by greating new blood vessels via angiogenisis.
Use the pump with either the 5x5x3 routine or the interval pumping that I do and over time your erections will improve and will be much easier to get.

@Kaigen, looking forward to feedback on your journey. Your post struck a cord with me as I too am focused on erection quality (EQ) vs gains.

My goal is entirely for quality of erections for sex, for which I have purchased a Bathmate pump.

You didn't specifically ask for additional options, but If I may, I've been taking a medication for ED called "Tadalafil" for 3 months, and it had an immediate effect, and it works well taken daily at 5mg dosage for me. Prior to that, I could get a solid erection, but not maintainable over the typical 30-45 minutes of foreplay and preamble to sex. With Tadalafil, my penis can remain erect for minimum 45 minutes or longer depending on stimulation. Not sure if this note helped, wishing you well.
