Pit Bulls?

I know Pit Bulls get a bap rap in the meidas eye, that is for sure, Mike Vick and all.

But really what do you think about Pit bulls?


I love them, I have rescued 2 of them in the last 2 years. To me this breed of dog is so smart. when I walk my dog I get crazy looks form some people, they look like damn get that dog away from me. I experienced this whit my own familt member this christmas. I went to visit my sister and everything was cool at first. I had a crate for my dog and all. But she has a 10lb dog that is so ill behaved it is just pitiful. So my dog comes over and she sees it, and then I find myself in a hotel room for 3 days because she was scared that my dog was going to be aggerssive. When it was her dog that had no manners.

Sorry but I got to vent over some bullshit like this. My Pit is well trained and gets along of dogs all sizes. But to have a familt member act like this after she said that my dog could stay at her home was kinda fucked up.

Watch animal planet, Ceasar Millan is the shit he has a pack of like 9 pit bulls and thaey all get alnog. I jusy hate hoe the good pit bulls have gotton a bad rap because they are Pits.

I have a 85 pound jet black greyhound and I am convinced if it was not black like a doberman people would not be afraid of him.

I have a 105lb. Rotweiller Black LAb mix. He's a very large dog but behaves like a child. He is the most loving dog and absolutely loves kids but because of his size I get the same kind of looks. Although he is aggresive in his playfulness he doesn't have a mean bone in him.

A 85 pound greyhound? I had no idea they got that heavy, I do know they are fast as hell.

I just get sick off reactions of people who know nothing about dogs but, automaticlly think my dog is a killer. Usually when they ask is that a pit bull, I just grin tell my dog to sit and he sits, and say yes he is a Pit. I try to give people a good experience around a Pit, jusy maybe seeing how my dog is they might change there mind.

I do understand that Pits are over breed, there is no question about that, but in the correct hands these dogs are golden!

There nothing but big ass babys, and if your the leader of the pack, you will never have anything to fear while your dog is around, because he loves you so much.

I had one. The thing was mean as shit. Killer ass dog. Thing damn near ripped the leash. Boy hated every dog, man, women, and child alive. Vicious man, but I couldnt take care of the thing. Pretty good dogs in my opinion.

pitbulls aren't born mean or vicious , its all about how the owner brought the dogs up to be.

very true fam. Thats how I got mines. Came that way. Never really had a problem with that, always gave me a extra sense of security.

Sure enough the sense of security is there, I'd hate to see someone try to break into my house.

I don't live in the best area either, so waking my dog is never an issue, the thugs around here love the pit, but at the same time respect me when I got my pit with me. I've even had dudes ask me if I wanted to fight my pit against theres. I say I'm cool on that dirty. some even ask to let my dog breed with theres, but I know what there going to do with them so I decline.

Very true...it's the way an owner brings them up. All dogs have different inclinations/personalities. It is important to note that it doesn't matter what kind of dog/animal you have that they can hurt children even if they don't have a mean bone in them. Animals are instinctive and if threatened/confused they could bite or snap at a child. I would never trust anyone else's dog around a child (baby (obviously) toddler especially) from my family. I'd make sure that child/toddler was never on the floor with the dog.

But again rotweillers and pit bulls have bad reputations because when they do snap or bite because of their "build" they can really do major damage to a person and definitely children. Still it mostly comes down to how you supervise your children and what kind of owner you are when it comes to the dog/animal.
