DLD, I really want to become a member to your site, the problem is i am 18 and live with my parents till next year. I have an american express and a visa credit card. Is there anyway u could make one of those credit cards available for payment. Thanks a lot.

i believe DLD uses paypal as a method of payment and you can use credit cards when setting up an account with paypal. You can also use your bank account if you want to use debit instead of credit.

You can use your visa to pay over paypal. Just go to paypal.com and it's very straightforward. Parents don't gotta know.

I am also 18 and I live at home, but I don't even own a credit card. What I did was I wired the money to DLD. I just asked DLD where to send the money too and go to western union or some place like that and they'll send the money to DLD. As soon as he gets it he'll set you up. The only probelm is that you have to pay an extra $15 to wire the money.

I would definitely use paypal...thats what ebay uses for almost all of there transactions. Granted they take a bit of a cut, but DLD should get a big percentage

It also seems the E-Bay is another method to buy a membership. I set one up yesterday for a guy in the middle east and he was able to join via/ Western Union. Does this make sense for anyone? I am still confused about auctions but maybe this will be another resource.

Ebay could definitely be used for this.

You can set up your selling item so the first bid has to be $50 and a 'buy it now' feature where you set a price and if someone clicks on that they do not have to wait until the end of the auction to to win the bidding.

At this point they would have to pay for the item using the options available through ebay. You might as well throw some memberships out there for people to bid on and see and get the sites name out anyway.

PayPal may take a cut, but its really not all that much considering what costs are involved in setting up a traditional credit card merchant account with per transaction fees,etc.

Plus as already said, there is Western Union bidpay.

This probably doesnt apply to [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/join-now.html]MOS[/words], since you wont be ripped off. However, be careful when using the payment functions on Western Union and Paypal when using a bank account transfer. Western Union treats all transactions as cash money wires, even when you use a credit card. This means if there is a problem, you cannot dispute the charge with your credit card company. Its treated as if you made a cash advance ( plus it could also be suject to cash advance fees). Paypal is usually good from my experience, especially when using a credit card. I'd be a little more cautious using your bank account or even a Visa Check card, since it offers less protection than a regular credit card. Paypal does offer optional insurance and is even good if you dont buy it.
I have been burned for a lot of money using Western Union before on a fake Ebay auction for computers, so I thought I would add that in.

Also, DLD, I just thought of a couple business ideas that you may want to look into as far as getting more sales and offering more payment options as well, but I will send you a message later.

AWESOME, We made it through Feb. thanks to the generous donations and the memberships we received. I am hoping March will be less stressful.

Hey DLD,

Something else you might want to think about is having quarterly fundraisers to help keep the site going. Another place I frequent does this and is very successful. They have a bar at the top of the board showing the $ goal, what's been contributed, and a thermometer showing the percentage (kind of like those United Way charity boards you see sometimes).

Just a thought.
