Mity vac water sump

Day.

Hi, I purchased a mity vac a couple of months ago but havnt been able to use it as the water traps where out of stock, I finally received the water trap today and it’s really small not like the large ones I’ve seen here, I tried to use it but as soon as I reach 4hg the trap is full of water and I can’t get any higher hg. Can someone please advise me on how to get the hg higher or how to purchase or make larger water trap. I’m so frustrated right now.
Cheers

I wasn't aware a bigger water trap was available from MOS yet, I have the one with a black lid that came standard earlier this year.

There is a learning curve that I went through, but I have it figured out pretty well now and can try to provide some tips.

Couple questions for you...

Are you pumping from erect or flaccid?

Are you keeping the trap level and at least at the same height or higher as the vac cylinder when pumping?

Thanks for the reply manplan, I went in as hard as I could get which was about 70%, I’ll attach an image of the water trap I received bellow. I kept the water trap pretty much level as my cylinder. I think maybe the issue is my cyclinder being too big for my current size, I bought a 12 by 2.5” and I’m 7.9bpel and 5.1mseg so yeh it’s a monster of a cyclinder for me and maybe getting a much smaller one will resolve this. Cheers mate

Gotcha, I think you are correct, too much water to move out of the cylinder. But when you pack that thing out, you are going to have a monster D!

I have been successful in the past with bringing up pressure and then disconnecting the tube from the top of the cylinder and emptying the trap some, then reconnecting and pumping to higher Hg with a little more water space, but its tricky and way distracting from the routine.

I thought about adding a small 1/4 ball shutoff or something to the tube before the trap so I could shutoff and empty the trap, pump back up to pressure and open the valve again so I dont suck air back in to the cylinder. I havent experimented yet cause I now have it down pretty well and rarely have issues overfilling the trap unless I am pushing the Hg to upper limits.

I do think a bigger trap is available, or you might want to grab a smaller cylinder. Sorry, not much help brother!

No, I did see under media oldandlivleys images of the larger sump so I had a look on amazon but I didn’t see there was a post. Thank you my bro! I’ll definitely have look into it more, much appreciated

Disconnecting cylinder and emptying water trap then reconnecting worked a treat, thank you brother! Legend.
I have ordered a larger water trap to make everything a bit easier, hopefully it’s not too hard to install. Thanks again bro

Glad to hear it worked for you brother!
