Fishing weights are comparatively inexpensive and can be used in very graduated amounts. The smaller egg shaped sinkers can easily fit through the neck of a bottle or jug, which can be used as a reservoir for the weight.
If you have a sporting goods store close by that sells shooting and reloading supplies you could buy bags of steel shot that range in weight from 5 to 10 pounds and cost approx. 15 USD. Some stores may also sell the weight bags for shooting sleds that you could put your own weight in. Some of these bags come with their own strap making for easy attachment
