As many of you will know following the story about the French airlines airbus that has gone missing off the coast of Brazil with over 200 people on board are all feared to be dead now in what is very sad news.
Story here
My prayers go out to the souls on board that plane, the families and the teams finding them and the plane.
Imo the plane encountered very bad turbelence and got struck by lightning which did something to the electrical system on the plane which like many nowadays are fly by wire and than it suddenly sent the computer system into a frenzy which made the plane lose control and either breakup at around 35,000ft where it was last observed from or it crashed into the sea.
A plane of the same build from Singapore to Perth had a problem when it climbed suddenly 300ft by itself and than nose dived, but the pilot managed to regain control manuelly and prevent serious damage as all on board survived but did leave with various injuries.
I know its early days and all but you cant help but wonder if aircraft now are too much computerised and fly by wire, we rely too much on technology and I remember flying on the newer Boeing 737-700's which are fly by wire and are very unstable in flight, seriously ... you get rocked about with a simple turbelance and its just a very sensitive plane with any movement makeing it go very quick, unlike another aircraft I fly on often the older 757-200 which isnt fly by wire by the old style methods where the parts are linked and the pilot and feel the plane as it turns, its slower at turning but more secure in flight and the safety record is incredible.
Fly by wire and computers on planes that do almost everthing needs looking into imo and give back more freedom and control to the pilot & co-pilots.
