I would avoid mega calorie weight gainers most of the extra calories come from simple carbs and you will more than lightly end up putting on the old blubber.
Yeah, ditto with prince Albert. Weight gainers are only good if you have a truly hyperactive metabolism. Chances are you don't, and you'll just pack on fat mass. Sure, you will 'gain weight', but it won't be lean weight.
Just try and eat more good food, or perhaps start a habit of taking a few tablespoonfuls of oil every day (around 90-100 calories per spoonful), such as flax, fish oil, rape oil, or olive oil if you can't find the other types or want to cut down on expenses.
About 10 years ago, I had a successful method that was very simple: I'd microwave about 5 lbs of potatos and eat them throughout the day prior to my workouts. The monotony sucked - but it sure as hell did the job.
I tried that weight gainer too before eating the potatos. That "gainer fuel" gave me so much gas it was insane. Needless to say I was relieved to stop taking it.
