Hi there. I've been a member for a while, but haven't been active lately. My best friend called me today and was extremely upset. He asked for my help because he knows I've done some activism work for genital integrity, but this situation is beyond my expertise.
My friend's (step)grandson is just over a year old. The boy is uncircumsiced. His parents have split custody and the boy's father still lives with his parents and the mother still lives with my friend and her mother. So the grandmas do a lot of the baby's care. The paternal grandma was in conversation with my friend's wife (maternal grandma) and the paternal grandma said something to the effect of "Oh you don't retract him when you clean him?"
Needless to say my friend and his wife were furious. They got the baby an appointment with his pediatrician. The pediatrician found that glans and foreskin were fused in an abnormal way, possibly from being dried out and scarred! The pediatrician gave a refferal to a urologist and said the urologist may need to separate the glans and foreskin, or even take more drastic measures.
My friend is adamant that his grandson retain his genital integrity and keep his foreskin. He's wondering if there are measures he can take to improve the health of the baby's foreskin and glans before he goes to the urologist. He's concerned that they will suggest circumsicion. I told him that perhaps hyalouronic acid and/or a quality scar cream might help, but this is beyond my expertise.
Does anyone have suggestions?
Also, my friend is, of course, going to pursue every method available to get the paternal grandma to cease and desist the abuse she is inflicting on the child. They have had numerous problems with this grandma being hyper-controlling and she even worked to make sure the mother and father of the baby did not get married. As near as I can tell she is probably a narcissist and maybe a socio-path. So if anyone is aware of the legal ramifications that would be helpful too.

this will also give him more length as he grows older. But let me know what the urologist says.
