From your post it sounded like you were using the ball modification. Basically what it is is a stress ball that you would put into your pump to take up all the negative space. For some men that need a longer tube because of girth the ball takes up that negative space to give better vacuum. But since that time we have figured out a better modification which is the wine vacuum you can find this modification in the basement for hiFrom your post it sounded like you were using the ball modification.
