Completely Cleaning Your bathmate Valve Guide Updated

Thanks To Chas79 For The Original Guide

Many Of You That Have A Bathmate Have Seen The Videos Showing How To Clean The Release Valve.....This Guide Is To Help You Clean The Whole Valve Assembly. If Your Bathmate Has Been Losing Pressure Or Little Air Bubbles In Your Bathmate,Then This Will Most Likely Be Of Some Help.

You Will Need A Couple Items.

1) A Piece Of 1/2" Inner Diameter Pvc Pipe, I Used A 24” Long Piece,

2) A Socket Spinner Handle That Would Fit In One End Of The Pvc Pipe,

3) And A 4mm Socket Adapter It Fits Perfectly To Push The Assembly Out…........

4) Optional........ I Also Bought A Long Wood Dowel That I Could Fit Into The Pvc Pipe To Make It More Sturdy. I Cut It To About 17” Long And Slipped It Into The Pvc Pipe

Now Put Together Your Tool, If You Bought A Wood Dowel Cut It Down To About 17” In Length And Slip It Into The Pvc Pipe, Than In The Other End Of The Pipe Put Socket Spinner Handle In, If It Is Loose Wrap Some Tape Around The Handle To Make A Tight Fit. Than Snap On The 4mm Socket Adapter To Socket Spinner Handle That’s It.

Inside Your Bathmate Is A Rubber "O" Ring That Holds The Valve Assembly Locked In Place. In Order To Clean It You Will Have To Push The Assembly Out. To Do This Squirt Some Dish Soap Inside Your Bathmate , And Get The O-ring Covered With The Dish Soap Then Use The Pvc Pipe With The 4mm Socket Adapter Side And Push The Spring Assembly Out.

Once It's Out, Clean All The Parts And Rinse The Soap Out Of Your Bathmate If Your "O" Ring Is Damaged In Anyway You Can Buy Replacement "O" Rings At Any Hardware Store. Now You Have To Reassemble The Pump, Put Together The Spring Assembly Drop The "O" Ring In And Line It Up With Spring Housing. Now Use The Open End Of The Pvc Pipe And Push The "O" Ring Back On. That's It. Now Your Bathmate Should Work Properly And Not Lose Pressure From The Valve

There should be a video illustration to show this process from the beginning to the end.

From what i understand from that video, removing the valve for cleaning is not safe, you might damage the pump when trying to pit the valve back in. I have already saved money for the shipping of my mityvac. Just waiting for shipping to resume.

Who knows, i might even buy one bathmate for backup just in case because I'm addicted to that pump.

You will love your Mityvac! Having a spare Bathmate may be smart if needing something more convent and you can travel with it.

It would be very helpuful for those like me who are more visual leanrer to see a video demonstration about this procedure.
I know that it is a lot of work and I canno expect it but maybe someone is willing to do it?

Thank you but:

apart from the fact the model of the bathmate in the video must bu an older model (because it doesn't have any valve assembly), it is not a question of cleanig it. I was have been smart enough already to come up with the idea of cleaning the pump, of course.
The problem might be the o-ring of the valve assembly.
Before venturing into the procedure that #Stephano2879 has kindly shared here, I will give it a try with the vaseline method.
If the vaseline method doesn't work, I do not know if I will be able to remove the valve assembly and above all put it back.
I could not find any videos on internet which shows how to disassemble the valve assembly, renew the o-ring and put the all back.
There are plenty of videos on internet which show how to clean the bathmate. But I consider them quite useless because I assume that cleaning the bathmate is not such a difficult think ones would not be able to do without watching one of those videos. .

Its been a few years back, but I actually took the bathmate apart cleaned the valve and replaced the Oring, it can be done but it was a pita.

If it really takes you 5 minutes, why don't you kindly shoot a video and share it here? :) .
I think that many people would be very grateful for that
