Cindy Sheehan's anti-war vigil

As you guys know, I'm basically a pacifist, and against any and all wars. So I guess you would think that I am in total support of Cindy Sheehan. Not really. Although I applaud her spunk, enthuisiasm, and no fear attitude, I feel she has no place protesting this war after the fact. If she was so against this war, then why didn't she urge her son not to go in the first place? In fact, Casey, I believe that's her deceased son's name, knew exactly what he was getting into. I see all the left-ists like move-on.org, Michael Moore, even the Rev. Al Sharpton are using her to further their cause.

I guess so, but the situation she finds herself in and the reasons for her questions and motif are understandable. Anyone trying to vilify her is a piece of shit in my mind. Everyone will try to exploit her in some way, but her main message is clear. The mass media, talk shows, radio shows, internet, etc. has done its part to invariably distort it all and make it look more like she's a crazy person than a woman that wants answers. It's not like the majority of this country wasn't duped by this administration at some point and many feel the same as she right now. Regardless of the past there are more Americans scratching their heads and wanting answers and rationale than before the war started.

Anyone that loses their son to a never-ending war which premise was based on fiction & seems to become more pointless everyday is going to seem a little crazy. You cannot tell people "oh look theyre coming out now to protest the war" because the situation is much clearer now than it was 3 years ago. The "war" that was supported years ago was suposed to be a strong swift sweep of power & the disarming of the Iraqi "biological, chemical, nuclear" arsenal. None of this exists and Iraq is in shambles just as it was 3 years ago. Try to have a little more empathy for people enduring the brunt of this atrocity.

I think you misunderstood me, I do have symapthy for the losses of anyone's loved one, under the false predictament. But on the other hand, as I do not agree with this war at all, I have to think to myself, why is Cindy Sheehan protesting the war now? It's been going on since 2003. I think she should have implored her son Not to go in the first place, if she's so against it.

Those who have lost their sons and daughters in Iraq fall into two groups: those who feel they were in the right and fighting for a noble cause and those who feel it was a waste and that their children died in vain and for no good reason.

My heart goes out to both groups, but especially to those like this woman, who feels that her son died in vain. What a horrible cross to bear. To give meaning to the hopeless pain she must be feeling, I can fully understand why she would want to stand up and demonstrate against the war.

This may help somehow to give meaning to what was a senseless loss for her. We should all pray that her deep grief will be lifted and that she will be able to come to terms with, in her mind, a needless sacrifice.

She obviously has a right to protest in whatever lawful way she chooses, so I don't have a problem with her expression. However, she is clearly being used as a pawn for leftist groups. And, as you said, why wait until now to make so much noise? I think she's just angry that she lost her son. Something tells me that if her son was still alive and had a heroic story to tell, she would be proud to watch him paraded and honored and may even be running around with a GWB sticker.

Yes, I agree with this sentiment. I think she just wants to blame someone for her loss, as bad as it is.

Personally, I think if her son had not died, and was awarded a metal, she would be driving around with a "W" sticker on her car.
