I noticed that the soft ring part attached to the end of the PF belt had some tape wrapped around it. Upon removing it a bit I noticed some big rips in that section.

I assumed that the sponge ring would be solid all round.

Also can a replacement be purchased in the UK?
 
I just left it on mine. I have it taped as well. I think they all do, it might be just one long cushion that they cut and make the circle. Then tape it at the end.
