Curious but the pin in the closed position on one side releases air/pressire . When the pin is in closed position the other side it retains pressure . Just used it for first time and I was under impression pin to either side should retain air pressure and be closed . This defective ?

When filling it with water you move the pin to any of the sides, keep it there. When you want to increase the vaccum by pushing the pump against your fat pad. You need to put the pin in the middle You only move the pin to the side, when you are filling the pump with water.

You release the vaccum/pressure by pushing in the valve (it's spring loaded).
