When you lay down, the blood pressure pushes your penile shaft a bit more to make it appears to be larger. If you get an erection while standing up, only a portion of the dedicated blood volume will be trapped in your penis through veinous constriction. On a side note I actually am bigger when standing up and measuring compared to laying down. And when I sit at the toilet and measure I’m actually half a cm longer as compared to standing up.

Weird shit but I guess it’s just all about angles and blood pressure in different positions as @oldandlively says.
