New drug coming out around 2005/2006, which gives you a flawless tan all over without UV exposure. Currently they are using a implant which will give you a tan for 3 month then you need to get another implant. It was also found to increase sex drive (something Viagra can't do), potent anti-inflammatory and appetite-suppressor. Can't wait till this comes out, it's being developed in Australia and I think it comes out here first then 1yr later in the USA . :blahblah:

Yeah, I've heard of this before. They're developing two different types of this ''Barbie Drug'', as they like to call it. One is specifically designed to perform as a tanning drug (the one that you guys in Australia are developing), and the other one is more of an impotence and obesity remedy with the possiblity of some degree of tanning as a side-effect.

This should be interesting enough... and outrageously priced, that's for sure.

too good to be true. Sounds like its being sold by "CP Direct" the Longitude maker. Hopefully not though

medicine is going to get really advanced in next few decades, I believe it all, and i see how its possible. there even comingout with a new drug, god knows when that will build muscle without even excercising, crazy stuff

I been following this for a year or so when I first found out about it , It's definitely legit and I believe it will be bigger and more well know then Viagra. All it is is a synthetic form of MSH (the hormone that makes you tan) and is 1,000 times more active then your bodies own MSH. This drug has a huge market with helping prevent skin cancer and even bigger, cosmetics. Can you image how many people would opt for this then take the risk and bake them self in the sun just for a tan and can be used by all ages. When this drug hit the market your going to hear about it big time, it revolutionary.

I think sun exposure is healthy and skin cancer scare is overblown, but this should be good nonetheless.

I wonder if the drug will enable you to tan beyond your skins' natural potential? I suppose that is the case, since they're talking about administering it to albinos, whose skin cells don't normally produce melanin at all.

This is good news for those fair skinned individuals who have always dreamed of a gorgeous tan, but haven't been able to achieve it without beta carotine pills or self tanners.

I tan pretty good, so I wonder if it'll make me a black man then? :p

That would be a shocker to friends and family members...

It does tan you beyond your skins' natural potential, like a skin type 1 (very fair) will tan to a type 3 (bronze tan) over a period of time I’m sure they would have different dosages for different skin types. It is very good news for people who have trouble tanning and for people who already tan, well I guess the only benefits would be less skin damage like wrinkles but of course everyone needs sunlight I don’t care what people say you need a healthy dose of it.

So, if you take this drug, will it build up a resistance to the sun? For example, I have a fair complexion and I burn really easy. If I sit in the house all winter and take this shit, will I be able to handle long periods of exposure to the sun without burning, as I would if I built up a real tan? Also, I wonder if it darkens or accelerates freckling.

It will build up your skins resistance to burn, that’s what melanin does it your skins defence mechanism. Of course its not a total block out but for people with fair skin they have a lot greater chance at developing skin cancer compared to someone who is tanned, that's the company's main driving force with this drug to reduce skin cancer, they still emphasize sunscreen for more protection. The best thing about this drug is you don’t need to be exposed to UV light for your skin to tan. The bottom line is if you got fair skin or you don;t want to lay in the sun or sunbeds to get a tan this is the drug for you.

Somewhere I read that it is not really that bad for your skin to expose it to sun gradually and build-up a tan. However, if you do like some people and just burn until you tan, that is bad. Supposedly, the burn increases your chance of skin cancer tremendously.

Well,
I know that at least a small amount of sun exposure daily is good for general health and well being. There is a reason people who stay indoors all the time look sickly ( me lately, during this freezing winter). I'm sure there is such a thing as too much though.

yes I found out the hard way to tan gradually. I only usually tan in the summer, , so at the beginning I might tan ion a cloudless sunny day for like 30minutes, than I rest a day and keep on going back at it. I spent like 3 hours the first day one time, was completely sunburnt for a day, until I used sun lotion for it. even had skin peeling the next week or two, bad times

This technique is quite effective for building up a quick tan, as I've always darkened up after a couple of good sunburns, but very bad for the skin, according to what I've heard.

There are none, at least that I know of.
The implant would be much better than a pill, though.

About tanning yourself the natural way:
just keep in mind that your skin ''remembers'' all the UV exposure you have put it through. Every time your sunburn, or tan for that matter, irreversible damage has been done, which keeps on accumulating throughout your life. If you start visiting tanning salons frequently in your late teens, chances are you'll look 10-15 years older than your peers when you hit your late 30s or early 40s, not to mention the dramatically increased risk for skin cancer.

It is only fortunate that a direct link between careless tanning habits and the less dangerous forms of skin cancer has been established beyond doubt: to my knowledge, malignant melanoma, which is the only lethal form of skin cancer, has very little if anything to do with how much you expose yourself to UV radiation. It commonly occurs in those areas of the body which aren't exposed that much, such as the soles of your feet, your lower back etc, and your genetics are probably the main culprit behind it.

Even so, excessive tanning should be avoided at all costs.
The less lethal forms of skin cancer can still leave a very nasty scar, since they tend to occur in areas which are exposed the most (the face, forearms etc). No sunlight at all isn't good either. You need at least a small dose every day in order for your skin to be able to produce vitamin D effectively.

I for one am looking forward to this new revolution in tanning. I tan well, but I don't like to waste my time lying in tanning booths, so this should be good...

In the mean time you guys might want to check out Riemann P20 Sun lotion. It lets you tan, but blocks rays which specifically cause the sunburn. Very interesting with many good reviews on the web. I haven't purchased it yet, because I haven't bothered to investigate if any of the companies ship to the US.
