So the wife and I went Christmas shopping tonight. I'm 48 and she is 38. We have 2 children and are not planning anymore. She brings up that she thinks I should get a vasectomy. Now let me say needles such as shots, tattoos (have several) do not bother me. But when I have a mental image to sharp objects around my man meat it literally makes me sick. My dick aches right now just typing it. I tried to dodge the issue saying it was unfair. She went into a speech how it's so much easier for a man than a woman to get fixed. I said I aint talking about that what is unfair maybe my next wife will want kids! Didn't go over the best. Then I said I would rather have a bj's the rest of my life before getting cut. Well, shit that ain't going to happen either. I geuss my question to any brothers out there is, a BIG IF I get a vasectomy how long will that put out of PE? Seems like I would be out for at least 6 weeks or maybe longer. I really don't want to do that either. Has anyone out there in PE land been cut and doing PE at the same time?

I think most doctors say 10 days before sex. So i would guess longer then that for PE. Some forms of PE would probably be more risky like pumping. manual stretches probably would be fine to do. what do you do for PE?

what do you do for PE?[/QUOTE]

X40 extreme is my go too tool. Over the months I started to add other things. I started the SG a couple of days before Thanksgiving and started clamping about a week after that. I do stretches with my hand. Hopefully after first of the year I will pick up a LM. For the last month I PE about everyday other than maybe 2 days. Oh yeah do alot of kegels everyday. It just seems to me the intense x40 would be very painful even a month of the cut.

Most men say 7-10 days before sex and I would think the same applies to most PE. If you need stitches it may take longer, maybe 2 weeks for it to heal and have stitches removed. In my personal opinion I would go for more kids but I love children and would never want to do something permanent that I may change my mind on down the road.

I suggest the no scalpel vasectomy. They make a little tear on the underside near the base with some pointy tweezers. Area is already numb with a pneumatic shot of lidocaine. Just a small pinch, and then a few minutes later another small pinch as they do the other tube. Whole procedure takes like 15 minutes. No stitches.

The Dr I went to normally uses hemoclips (rice sized clamps) on the tube ends which are quick and reliable. But I just didn't want to feel any foreign material down there so I asked to have silk (sutures) used on the ends. It's not as reliable and takes a little longer.

Since there is a small tear/blemish, I suggest not using any pump exercise until it heals. Stretch is fine though you may not want to do it for a few weeks depending on pain. My Dr recommended ejaculation after a day or two, and then pretty much you have to do it once or more per day to clear out the tubes. Something like 6 weeks and 20 ejaculations before you send in a sample for testing.

Excellent post and thanks for the better information from your own experience, this is a great help.

If you are SURE, 100% you don't want more children, go for it. I had it done about a year ago. It's a simple, painless procedure. No future worries of "accidents", or scares with pregnancy. I went in, got numbed...two small pricks that you barely feel as they are done in just the surface if I recall it right. There's a slight "pulling" sensation during the procedure when the Dr. pulls out some of your Vas-deferens which they sever and then tie off. If you've had numbing for a dental procedure, it's about 1% of that sensation. I got I think, 2 stitches that dissolve on their own over a couple weeks. So, no need for a follow up visit/check. After that I had a few days of some discomfort as if I'd been bumped in the balls. Pretty basic wound care to ensure proper healing. Healing took about two weeks counting the sutures/stitches dissolving/coming out. I went once at 2 months post op and then again 6 months post op for semen analysis. That's to make sure all your swimmers are out of the pool. Both came back negative. No more condoms! Then again, I'm married.
Again, be sure you are done with children. There's a small chance of reversing the procedure, but for men, it's pretty much a done deal. The body usually creates antibodies against your own semen due to "leakage" of sperm into the surrounding areas of the vasectomy. Yep, you're likely to become immune to your own sperm and therefor completely sterile. You can of course have your woman get fixed, or freeze some of your sperm.

Never knew you had this done, great explanation. Are you sure you do not want kids? Your still so young.

We have a beautiful little girl now Mike.

I did not know, congratulations Dad!

Well, she brought it up again today. I artfully side stepped it like a dodge ball champion. I'm just not sold on it. Nausea just thinking about it. I do appreciate the responses and I have learned some things in regards to it.

It is totally up to you, if you do not want to do this don't.

I'm pretty squeamish but it didn't bother me. A lot depends on the doctor and technique. Mine has done 30,000 vasectomies and it is done in about 10 minutes, with your pants still on LOL.

No scalpel. Swallow antibiotic pill and put on paper jock strap in bathroom. Called in, small discussion and agree on any specific requests. Drop pants to ankles and lay back on the table. Dick is taped to belly. He uses a hypospray (like Star Trek) to anesthetize and that is totally painless. Then he finds the tubes and lightly clamps them so they are right under the skin. Then a small tear is made in the skin with the pointy tweezers. Painless. A tube sheath (like wire insulation around the tube) is pulled a little bit, then split to reveal the tube. A small section of tube is cut out, ends cauterized and clamped or sutured, and then one end is left outside of the sheath as a double measure. Small gauze and tape, and then pants up and drive off.

A couple of days later, jerk off daily to clear the pipes. Small amount of blood may be present in semen. Definitely wear a jock strap if you are going to be walking throughout the day. The amount of pain afterwards differs from person to person. I had a bit of tenderness on one side for a few weeks which kept me wearing the jock strap.

Was you doing PE at the time, if so how long was you out of doing PE?

i think there are pills for women that will make sure that they dont get pregnant for 5 years then why get vasectomy done ????

I took around two weeks off PE. Also I waited until the skin completely healed before pumping.

As long as your sure you don't want kid! Then I think it is by far the best birth control method. If your dicussion fairness issues... Women have to give birth and go through labor. It is only fair the men at least take this route into consideration.

I had mine done few years back! It is a very simple and plainless precedure. No side effects at all besides a bit of blue balls from my body adjusting the first month of recovery phases.
