"I find it outrageous that the president is running for re-election on the grounds that he's done such great things about terrorism, he ignored it. He ignored terrorism for months, when maybe we could have done something to stop 9/11. Maybe, we'll never know."
-Richard Clarke, Top Terrorism Czar for 30 years, who served under R.Reagen, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and current Pres. George W. Bush.
Richard Clarke has been a public servant for over 30 years. He has dedicated his life to battling terrorism under both Democrats and Republicans alike. He is a registered Republican. The only critisism that could be placed on his job preformance, was being TOO obsessed with Terrorism.
He also commeneted on the mis-leading of this Admins. to link Iraq with Al-Qaeda.
"Basically, the president botched the response to 9/11. He should have gone right after Afghanistan, right after bin Laden. And then he made the whole war on terrorism so much worse by invading Iraq,"-Clarke.
"I think we could have had a good chance to get bin Laden, to get the leadership and wipe the whole organization out if we had gone in immediately and gone after him."-Clarke
Clarke also said, Bush has "inflamed the Arab world and created a whole new generation of al Qaeda terrorists."
He added, "U.S. soldiers went to their deaths in Iraq thinking that they were avenging 9/11 when Iraq had nothing do with it."
This basically confirmed every belief I had about the Bush Admins. They had a preconviction to go to war w/ Iraq, no matter what. No matter what the terrorist connection, which was non-existant, and no matter how flawed the WMD intelligence was. Iraq has been a distraction from the the REAL terrorist and 100's of billions of waste in taxpayer money. But of course this Admins still has time to give excessive unfair tax-cuts for the wealthy, and lucretive no-bid military gov. contracts to Halliburton.
This Admins ignored the threat from day one. Their obsession with Iraq distracted them from OBL and Al-Qaeda despite frequent warnings from top officials. This myth of Bush being some Great Terrorism War President is laughable. He has failed in the War on Terror.
