Anyone who has been brought up in a Christian tradition or even is familiar with our Western culture, either knows or, at least, has heard the 23rd Psalm. It's the Psalm that the padre is reading as the man is going to his execution in those old prison movies. It is the most well known of the Psalms and has been a source of comfort to many in peril over the centuries.

Many of the Psalms were written by David (some by others). They were sort of prayers to their god. They expressed the author's feelings and petitions to God in a wide variety of situations. They have also been read by many when in times of need. It is believed that if God answered David's prayers, then if we say the same prayer, we also might obtain God's grace.

The Psalms are exceptionally powerful and have secret meanings to all of them that we can all use in our lives. I will reveal more of this in the next few days via the thread.

The Psalms are an ideal prayer book, because there seems to be a Psalm for almost every intent or situation. When using the Psalms for a desired solution or result, it helps if one adds other devotional acts, eg. burning a candle and/or incense. While this is not always necessary, every act of devotion conveys one's sincerity.

Some Psalms do require special acts of devotion to accompany their reading. When reading the Psalm, do it in a reverent, meditative manner - a hurried reading may bring a haphazard result, or no result at all.

This next link is fantastic on the secrets to the psalms. I already have a book on this and what to use each psalm for incl the secret name to go with it. Sometimes other things need to be followed but with some you just recite the psalm. The site has what the psalms are for and a link to a site which has the psalm in Hebrew, Latin and English.

The psalms are so beautiful and anyone can apply them to themselves and those they love around them. And then practicing reading the Psalms people will grow closer to God. My favorite is this:

Give judgment for me oh God and decide my cause against an unholy nation from unjust and deceitful men deliver me, for you oh God is my strength why gave though forsaken me and why do I go about and sadness while the enemy of afflicts me? Send forth thy light and thy truth for they have led me and brought me to thy holy hill and they dwelling place; and I will go to the altar of God to God the joy of my youth. I shall praise you with song! oh God why am I sad and why does my soul trouble me? TRUST IN GOD!

I love this prayer from David because I realize the true meaning behind it. I always thought that when it said trust in God that was David but it was not, it was God answering him. So no matter what we go through, even when we feel like we’re being abandoned we are not! We always need to TRUST IN GOD!

David wrote some of the most beautiful verses about the coming of Jesus Christ and about his death and resurrection. It’s a very incredible book an extremely inspiring. As a matter of fact I read it last night. Awesome post my brother
