Thailand requiring checkups for cockfighting birds
The Nation (Bangkok) |
"The Khon Kaen Livestock Office has issued a rule requiring the owners of fighting cocks to register their birds to check the spread of bird flu. Silatham Wara-assawapati said some owners take their birds to fight in other provinces, thus risking the spread of the virus. Many may already be infected. All fighting cocks over eight months old must be registered. The birds will be checked for disease, vaccinated and photographed. The office will keep identity records. If a cock passes a swab test, it will be given an ID that serves as a 'fighting cock passport.'"
