I am going to afgan as I have told many of you. I would like to see if I could get some help. Its really cold oever there and not much can be done, but i once saw this suit you can wear and its a body suit heater. I really want to get one, but not having much luck finding it one. Could yuou guys help if you know about one, the one I saw is not bulky and very slim and trim lined with your body. Also what else do you think I should take extra, I am gonna take a GPS and a some other gadets, any tips from vets?

Well If I were you, I'd discuss these matters with a NCO in your branch as they will know better than most of us, and there in the Marines right this minute.
I know Still might have some tips, but My advice is speak to some senior or Experienced NCO's in your branch and see what they say, cos thats what these people are there for, to help eachother out.

hey supra on the body suit warmer you might wanna try cabela's sporting goods they have a ton of hunting stuff for cold weather sorry to here you wont be around any more <:(

Supra - Mark here. I think also Cabela's catalogue has what you are looking for also. Saw something similar to what u want in there. Was thinking about getting one when I was playing paintball in the snow last yr.
Also bro - I know this is gonna sound kind of sappy, but I wish you the best of luck in Afg. I feel that you have become a good friend after reading all your posts and all the help you have given to others here at MOS. Of course I don't know you and really have never met you, but you def. seem to be a type of guy who would make a great friend. (I am 36, a bodybuilder here in Michigan, 6 ft, 195 lbs.)I just know you from here, reading your many posts and words of encouragement to others and - of course all your pics!! lol So - I guess I really do know you! lol well, anyway buddy, please be careful and it would really be an honor sometime to meet u in person when you get back. I support our troops 10000% and of course you in particular. Hang low, and God bless you Supra. Your bud, Mark

Hey there, I'm a lurker but couldn't let a fellow Marine down. I was in Iraq for the first phase of the war. For warmth, just invest 10 bucks on another poly-pro shirt, two of those on with a sweathsirt between will keep you warm as hell. Get some good insulated gloves and a thermal pullover hood like a balaclava. I'd get a tiny camping stove and get your buddies or whoever's in your team to help spread load the fuel.

You should have your IPO so mail yourself whatever you want and have your firiends and family do it as well. It'll take a month or so to get there. Chocolate will taste funky by the time you get there, summer sausage and beej jerky is the shiznit. Bring three books and mail yourself a lot more, if you're not a reader you will be after a few weeks there. Bring about thirty razors and don't rely on any re-supply except for from your own mail.

Disposable cameras are your best bet, a good camera's just going to get busted up.

You don't want to get that suit if it's full body, no matter how cold it is after hiking some mountains it's going to make you a heat casualty.

One other thing fuck Mag-lites those bulbs go out too much buy any other brand.

A donut for your helmet. Buy your own dust goggles, they'll be better than what you're issued.

That's all I can think of. Good luck.

dude shoot first and ask ? later man dont trust anyone their besides your group watch your back and dont stick your head up for any reason and come back with out a scratch .your the man ,come back safe props to supra

thats cool man, sometimes it seems like Afghanistan has becomed the "forgotten war". People forget about the battle to get the fucks who hit us on 9/11.

Thanks guys for all your support. You are a great blessing.
