Administration wages war on Adult Pornography

"Nothing is off limits, they warn, even soft-core cable programs such as HBO's long-running Real Sex or the adult movies widely offered in guestrooms of major hotel chains."

What the fuck? I admit, some things I turned a blind eye to. I thought yeah ok, here Bush goes again, but it's not a big deal. I thought he was the lesser evil because of my support of capitalism.

But Bush is at least as much of a Socialist is Kerry and even more of an authoritarian which= IMO Un-American. I believe he is derelict in his duties. And I am coming at this from a right/libertarian perspective.

I saw one of my favorite stock pickers "the Capitalist Pig" comment that Bush wants our minds and Kerry wants our wallets. I pretty much agree, but I'd rather lose part of my wallet than all of my mind.

And this is not a rash opinion based on one policy move. I could list many areas where Bush/Ashcroft have failed and even been opposed to traditional Republicanism.

While we are in the middle of a war, these clowns have the time and resources to go after threats such as :

Tommy Chong selling pipes
Porno
sex toys
gay marriage ( If that is a "threat" to someones hetero marriage they have a lot more problems than what the government can protect them from)

Have legalized extensive anonymous spying on all Americans
You can be jailed for years with no charges filed or ever being filed.

Sports supplements

jailing dying people for pot

extreme radio censorship- targetting programs to force out of business.

Oh yeah Bush isnt even a capitalist. lets see what else. A lot more things, and that is the problem. the federal government has limited powers and not one of the issues I have listed is within the appropriated powers or intent of the federal government. And we are undergoing a war and other problems that need the attention of government resources. When 9/11 happened FBI agents were busy busting whorehouses ( after personally using the services mulitple times).

Oh, I cant stand Kerry either, but at this point I hope he wins. if anything just to get Ashcroft out.

And if you think none of these things are important ( hey I was even letting them slide) then either a: You are sadly mistaken or b: you do not support the USA as a Constitutional Republic.

wow. never thought I would feel this way, but Bush just pushed it to far to the totalitarian side and all these things added up and tipped the scales.

Amidst all of your personal claims above, in what way have your rights been infringed? Extreme radio censorship? Is this accusation because of the Stern incident? You are not only exaggerating on all your accusations above, but exaggerating on who exactly is to blame.

The one point that you did note above that is quite clear is the gay marriage issue. Though your assumption for why one would be against it is hardly correct. That is a big issue in and of itself and deserves a thread of its own, IMO.

What we ought to take from that post is Big's shrewd observation that Bush is hardly a fiscal conservative, and his social policies are of the flavor that try to force conservative moral values on the nation and encourage censorship. Bush is financially reckless, there's no doubt, never vetoed a bill, a huge spender by all accounts, hasn't done a thing to shrink government spending. If you support Bush because you consider yourself a conservative and hate 'liberals' in all forms, go get a political science text book, look up the two terms, then review Bush and Kerry thoroughly and see where you stand. If you use the same math his team did to estimate a 900 billion dollar spending gap for Kerry's proposed economic plan (which was barely articulated at the time) on Bush's budget, you'll get a 10 trillion spending gap.

Bush's foreign policy is hilariously crude and inept, we're up over a 1000 dead in Iraq and the people don't want us there, and for what? We're going to alter our constitution to prevent to consenting adults from living peacfully because other citizens think their harmless lifestyle is somehow gross or immoral? Guess what, gay couples can adopt and raise children, and otherwise live together happily. Most if not all major corporations including Disney provide equal benefits to same-sex partners because they'll get demolished in the courts of they attempt to deny them. The law reflects the equal status of homosexuals in society, but Bush and the conservative/religious right are trying to enforce a religiously motivated agenda in federal law to attempt to undermind the lifestyle because it's obvious that the rising generation of American's are not particularly bigoted against homosexuals and gay marriage would cease to face any real opposition in the coming decades. Add to that the fact the Bush is opprotunistically trying to steer us towards becoming a heavily censored society, and you have a very ominous agenda.

Make no mistake, Bush, and his ultra-conservative adminsitration, are up to one thing: the permanent institution of their flavor of neo-conserativism in teh white house and congress. They want four more years to really cement their status and destroy the opposition. The American People and the well being of the country is truly of secondary importance in teh administrations strategy; Bush will readily try to please the masses, but only in as much as he needs high approval ratings to remain in office and to garner support for his wildy idelogical agenda. Bush is a mediocre man, and a sub-par president.

Thats exactly correct. in other words, I could overlook certain things as long as positive principles (fiscal restraint for one) are adhered to. But I no longer see any positive Republican principles even being followed.

The one point that you did note above that is quite clear is the gay marriage issue. Though your assumption for why one would be against it is hardly correct. That is a big issue in and of itself and deserves a thread of its own, IMO.

1. It doesnt matter if MY rights are infringed. It matters if individual rights of anyone is the US is infringed. The government has no proper role in picking and choosing certain groups and individuals to create or remove rights for.

2.I try never to exagerate and I constantly defend Bush when he is blamed for things that are not his fault. But everything I mentioned is a pet policy of someone in his administration or cabinet. I stuckup for John Ashcroft during his confirmation because I thought people were disriminating against him for his religious beliefs. But he also swore he would not let his religious beliefs inluence his proper role and use of Government. Many conservative Christians personally dislike certain things ,but they also respect the Constitution and know that government is not to be used for waging personal agendas. Our representatives take an oath to uphold the Constitution, yet many Republicans who follow that oath are singled out by the GOP establisHydromaxent to be taken out in primaries, etc.

3. I agree gay marriage is too complicated for a short summary. So I am using the given reason against gay marriage. the reason given is to protect straight marriage. My point is republicans, who for most of my life ( I was like Alex p. Keaton growing up) held my head and my heart now are hypocritical. The environment, the caribou, whatever etc do not deserve "protected status" so why would marriage? No one deserves special protection. the law is supposed to be equal. And one cannot just pick and choose what parts of the COnstitution he likes and throw away the rest. It sickens me that Republicans would cry States Rights as an excuse to allow segregation, unequal laws, etc in the individual states. Yet when it comes to something as harmless as allowing medical marijuana use, private sex, or pornography watching, and even education policies and transportation policies , States rights do not apply?

I am just saying I can no longer defend the Republican establisHydromaxent against allegations that seem to hold true now.

Since there is no established party of principle that has a feasible chance of winning elections, politics is only worth supporting on an ad hoc basis.

One of my biggest problems with the Bush administration is the discussion of banning not only supplements that allow people to lose weight and gain muscle mass, by using over the counter products, but also seeking to completely destroy a classification of life saving drugs known as anabolic steroids. The reason I say life saving is because for the last ten-15 years there have been patients suffering from renal failure, and have regaineg proper renal function because of a rejuvenation of renal tubules because of anabolic steroids, and not to mention aids patients who have continued to live because of anabolics improving there hormone production helping them to regenerate lean tissue and get their life back.

This administration has taken the stance "performance" enhancement is bad, but within that reality lies the truth, and tha is big pharma has their hand in US governmental policies and gives a big pay out every year for the support of the parties. It's a multibillion dollar industry that not only gives the parties money, but is highly taxed and helps to fund the wars that we fight, and allow Bush to spend how he sees fit. I've been a supporter thus far, simply because I know Gore would have been the worst possible choice for President, but looking objectively at Bush's politics and now I'm not so sure.
