Okay so ya this aint the right section...ill move it laterz so ya can all see it.

Ya wonna make the Internet Explorer faster right???? well do this.

1. run regedit from the command prompt in windows.

2. navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Internet Settings.

3. Have a look in the right-hand window and see if there are two strings named MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server. Double click on the strings to change the value. If they are not there go to step 5.

4. Change as follows
MaxConnectionsPerServer = 6
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 8
[Finished]

5. If the strings are not there you will have to create them. Right-click in the right hand side of the window where all the strings are and select New>DWORD Value.

6. Enter MaxconnectionsPerServer as the string name and hit [Enter].

7. Do the same again but instead call the string name
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server.

8. Go to step 4.

---

You can have the setting higher than 6 and 8 like I mentioned.
The highest you can goto is 10 after that it may become unstable.....if you go over 10 it wont make it any faster.

Heres an explanation on how this all works.

Internet Explorer 4,5&6 are designed to comply with Hypertext Protocal 1.1. This dictates that a web browser should draw no more than two steams of data from a web server at any one time. The thing is, your browser's capable of getting many more streams than that, and if you increase the number it's looking for, you vastly speed up the web page download process.

And the reason you shouldnt go above 10 on the settings is simplt >>> It almost never happens that you have 10 or more donwloads from the exact same server. And if you do, those 10 will probably already use all available bandwidth.

Give it a try....for some it may be more apparent the new speed increase than it will to others.

Good info redzulu, thanks for sharing.

I didn't need to change mine because the default setting for my WinXP IE 6.0 is 14 for each of the two categories.

I know bits about IT.

Stevie 31.....with that default setting at 14 is ya net fast???? hows surfing like???? just that from what I have learned anything over 10 can be bad.

Try setting the speed to 14 it seems to make it quicker...albeit against what I said :mad:

It seems fast to me. I use a cable modem and have a suped up PC so I never really notice any lag. 10 or 14, as long as it's above the default on older versions of windows, it will help. Thanks again for sharing!

Dont Forget to backup the registry everytime you start editing it!! Very important
