Quit Smoking-Anybody here made it?

i made it my new years resolution...in 2003...just quite cold turkey..going on two years now...the price of cigarettes was getting ridiculous...plus my son was coming and i didn't want him to be around that

If I can't get a high from it I aint smokin it. We crack now thats another story.. not sure which Id rather smoke, crack or cigarettes lol

Tobacco legal, Marijuana Illegal, makes no sense. Congrats on quitting you guys!
By the way, soon I am going to become a paying member. I really want to.

If the government could find a way to make profit off marijuana it too would be legal. They would have to sell crap which noone would buy anyways.

What I mean is if you are going to be paying that much to smoke.. what exactly does smoking do for you. Some say it relieves stress but I know what releives my stress and it aint smoking cigarettes. They also say marijuana is soo much harsher than cigarettes. I know I can smoke a lotta weed and my lungs feel normal. I take one puff off a cigarette and my lungs tighten up and i get a sharp pain.

I quit after a collapsed lung put me in the hospital for the better part of 2 months leaving me with scars on my side from where tubes were shoved in to drain fluids and a long scar on my back from a surgery which consisted of ripping layers of tissue off my lung and chest cavity so the raw surfaces would grow together :(... had I not been a smoker this collpased lung probably would not have happened and even if it did I would have healed much faster thus no 2 months stay in the hospital!

In Canada marijuana is a 4 Billion dollar industry(mostly B.C). They figure if the Canadian government legalizes and taxes it, they could stand to make more profit off of marijuana than it does on Wheat. Nothing will ever get passed as the U.S has a "War On Drugs" policy, and the pressure for Canada would be to great. Question: How many wars is the U.S currently in? "War On Drugs","War On Poverty","War On Terror", its funny, the U.S is really busy.

Oops I forgot about the posts...
* I am still not able to quit smoking, the reason I think it is hard to quit is that it is everywhere.(Tobacco=Evil)
* The only thing I was able to quit was Meth, because it was killing me and my life.(Meth=Deadly)

I am really glad I dumped the smokes. I dumped them in a time when I was in army and I realized it is much easier to run and do all the physical shit without them. I didn't got back to the habit ever since. Off course when I get drunk I smoke one or two sometimes but this is very rare.

Thanks for responding. Originally I was going to mention that a woman who cares about me as been leaving little notes by my ashtray about quitting. I was going to throw out the idea of printing that article in color and leaving on her dressing table just to toy with her emotions. I will be quitting so I thought I would have some mean fun with her. After seeing that picture again, with his wife and son there...I cant find an ounce of humor. Its so tragic.
The addictive nature of smokes plus their potential (certainty) for grave harm to the user...the addictive part is what I find so sinister. Cant they remove the nicotine? Thats what you become addicted to right? See, if they can yet dont, well thats just messed up. Perhaps evil, not a word I use very often.
I wonder if you can vaporize tobacco, like med-users do with ganja?

After smoking 40 a day for 35 years, I quit cold turkey. I went in for major surgery, the gas man told me if I did quit I would be dead in six months. That was 14 years ago.

You are correct in your analyses on the weed, a mate of mine lives in BC, Like me he grows his own weed, I eat mine, he smokes his, anyway, the Liberal government of Canada is now attempting to pass laws that will make the simple possession of weed not a criminal offense.

If other countries where as progressive as Holland, where it not against the law to sell and smoke weed, the world would be a lot better off. In Holland you can buy either smokes or brownies in the coffee bars. Hard drugs in Holland are hardly seen on the streets and there is only minor crime when it comes to drug dealers.

Prostitution is also legal in Holland, Old guys who are on welfare can get a doctors note to have a jump with a prostitute and the state will pay for it. Just think if the US, Canada, UK, and other western countries was to go the Holland has gone. There would less crime, and you could go and get a jump without the fear of catching Aids

I feel that medical marijuana should be available to all.....it works! Im not sure about prostitution. People are more than sex toys, it just seems wrong. With education and encouragement people wouldnt have to sell their bodies. Do you think they want to? Maybe some, but I bet most hate it, and it destroys their essence bit by bit.
You grow your own : ) I have a friend who used to do that; I was suprised by how demanding it could be. Man that stuff was awsome though! She talked about Soma seeds alot....I remember. That seems like along time ago.

Marijuana has all the chemicals in cigarrettes, and smoking doesn't relieve stress. It elevates blood pressure sharply then it slightly comes down, making you think you are being more relaxed.

I have tried marijuana a couple of times, it was the same harvest all times. And what can i say, i didn't find it pleasant! My heart got fucked up all of the times, the feelings was annoying. It feelt like my heart exploded and all blood ran thru my body, over and over again. And the dunks was more clearly, fuck what i hate it! =)
Either is it bad weed, or im the person who cannot use it.

Sounds like you got your hands on Sativa, which gives a very speedy, anxiety prone, irritating type of 'high' to some. Indicas are very different. Mellow, introspective, calming. Still, as far as general legalization goes, Im not so sure.

Cool, you seem to know alot. How about haschish? that is more usual here then pot. Is that of the same type of evil sativa?=)

The thing I don't like bout Indicas is I can only smoke so much before I get a head ache.

IMO smoking marijawoopie has opened my mind to all types of things. I now find myself looking at stuff and trying to interpret it in different ways. Alcohol and smoking don't do this to people it won't open their minds to different things. Alcohol only makes a person dumber usually, and a person who doesn't care is of no harm to the government. Cigarrettes don't do really do either.

Those of us who have smoked weed know that being drunk off alcohol is a lot worse. I drive drunk I will probably end up hurting myself or someone else. I drive high outta my mind on weed and Im driving so cautiously my friends call me granny.

Carl Sagan talked having a real break thru in 'thinking' while high. Of course thanks to mis-information, Cannabis has gotten a bad rap. I dont know anyone anymore that has or can get the stuff, but I was young once (deadhead).

Alcohol can lead to some serious problems...violence to name just one. I think most cops would rather deal with pot intoxication before all other types.

My brother in law was telling me that once in the early seventies he and some friends were on their way to highschool one morning, in a van of course, all tripping on acid and smoking and jamming. Well they got pulled over for going like 10 miles and hour on the highway...LOL.

Back to the smoking thing... I quit a little less than 5 years ago cold turkey. I still wake up some days and desire a smoke or two but I refuse to give in. As far as weed... I played high school ball and went straight into the service, never had time to try it out in my younger days.

GhosT_Dogg, Hey I missed your post. Sweden! Adopt me, Im begging you! : )
I really dont know much about hash...wish I did. You should check it out. Isnt Amsterdam pretty close to you? I havnt been to Europe yet, one day Ill make it. I want to see...well everything, but the museums most of all. Im a bit of a art-history buff.

mirlin-5 years. yea!! Still miss it sometimes huh? God. I guess thats the way to do it, cold turkey. Doesnt sound fun. Thanks for sharing man. ;)
