I was wondering if someone could tell me what are the best possible ways to reduce the stomach area in order to get back to a six pack?

What exercises or methods should I use?

Thanks,

Im just getting my abs back after a long bulking period, they should be back by about 175 for me. Just eat less calories than you need, and the same amount of protein you normally would, and eat in small numerous meals. Cardio will boost your metabolism, but personally I just use my normal bulking routine less the calories.

Working your abs doesnt really help untill you can already start to see them.

I'm gonna go with the other guys and also say your diet and or adding cardio will definitely trim your ab fat down quicker than only working your abs. You want to be working them as well of course. Dropping my carb intake and keeping an eye on my carbs has REALLY made a big impact for me. I have NO love handles now, and my lower abs are almost visible. Former fat kid. Not really, but I used to wear a size 34", and now a size 29" is loose on me.

Watch your diet. If you are putting in a lot of calories and fat, all the exercises you do will not make you gain anything. You have to cut up on those.

Don't eat bad food, live healthy, do cardio and crunches.

Not sit-ups, but crunches. There is a difference between the two.

I'll concur with what has been said: abs are mostly made in the kitchen, not in the gym. However, if you build up your abs, they will tend to stick out and show even at a slightly higher BF. The downside is you can end up looking like you're pregnant, which is what is referred to as the "GH, or growth hormone gut" look in bodybuilding circles (the name comes from the fact that human growth hormone carries the risk of enlarging your intestines, causing your belly to bulge out. Incidentally, if your abs are too big, the same look is often acheived).

Just cut down on the calories, try to eat clean, do some cardio a few times a week, and see where you end up (oh yeah, and if you haven't already, for the love of god, INCORPORATE SOME WEIGHT TRAINING INTO YOUR DIETING SCHEDULE! ;) ).

The fat loss starts to slow down dramatically once you hit the threshold where your abs are just about visible, but not enough to "impress people". That is because of a hard wired survival mechanism our bodies still retain from our cave-man days when the threat of starvation was very real. It sucks, because it makes fat loss down to the lower BF percentages an uphill battle, and you often end up losing muscle at this point. If you seem to hit a wall in your fat loss, you could try to do all your cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. It won't make a dramatic difference, but it will give you a slight boost in the old fat burnin' furnace.

Thanks, Guys. Good Information. I am going to use it well.

Thanks, again,

channel7, what you need to do is cut your fat intake, up your cardio, and do your ab work with no weights.
If you had a bulking diet for weight gain, cut the fat out of that diet by about 50% if possible. This gets tough if your eating a balanced diet and don't have much fat in it to begin with. Don't cut all your fat intake. The body does need a certain amount of fat, believe it or not.

Upping your cardio while lowering your fat intake will start to lower your overall BF%. Be careful if you're a hard gainer. Too much cardio will cut into your lean muscle gains.

Do your ab work with no weight if you want a lean six pack. Ab work with weights make strong, bulky abdominals, which is not the abs most of us are looking for.

Stay with this for a 2-3 weeks, you should see some progress.

bicycle crunches have given me the best results as far as the exercise portion goes.

If your trying to get a sixpack, don't forget to work your transverse abdominals (the wall of muscle on the inside, it holds your guts in check) it keeps your stomach pulled in, giving you that lean look, try some exercises like a bridge, side bridge, a two point plank, or a barbell rollout. If the muscles are untrained theese will hurt like hell, but hey, it's definately wrth it.

ALL good ideas from these guys here's a couple more. I luckly hav little problem building my abs. I used to hav a six pack years ago and slacked off on them. I quit drinking and started doing them again and hav gotten my six pack back in a matter of a month and a half. First when you do your abs dont do them with weight. I had a video Eight Minute abs if u can find it get it it works wonders. You wanna do abs in a cardio such way. Meaning do at least 8 different exercises consecutively in order to burn calories make sure u swet if not u need to up the intensity of your workout. Also make sure u do your abs every day they are one of those certain muscle types that heal fast and can be worked everyday such as your biceps and forearms, if your too sore than u can take a day off but make sure you get at it as soon as possible. Don't save your abs for the last part of your workout either iam guilty of this you worried about your abs shouldn't be.
