My ruler starts at 0,i remember someone saying that there is and extra amout in the begining of the ruler that we overlook or something like that can anyone elaborate

some rulers have a small 1/4 of an inch part at the beggining that aint included in the actual measurement....well get a ruler that aint got that on it...or measure the gap and deduct that from your measure.

It just that some of us are slightly bigger than we first thought...and this gives a better accurate stat.

SHIT!!! Just noticed my ruler has 1/8 gap. Better gain than I thought. Cool!!!

I noticed that couple days ago too. =P

10 months or so, didn't work the girth as hard as i should have. I am kicking up the girth work now. Want 6" girth by summer.

Your best bet is to "modify" your ruler. Take a box cutter or an x-acto blade and lightly "score" away at the plastic (or wood) of the ruler until you've cut that annoying 1/8th of an inch or whatever off... that way your ruler starts at absolute zero.

damn i just noticed there's an extra 8" on mine, that leaves me with 14"
thats better! LMAO

Okay, some of you guys are beginning to scare me -- I mean who wouldn't know to compensate for blank space on the end of rulers -- what are they teaching in schools these days???

Hey Bob, Jen has a crush on your avatar:)

Bob-

Allow me to quote Barbie when I say, "Math is tough."

Oh yeah, can somebody remind me how to convert measurements in inches to decimals? I forgot.

Like if you got 7/8ths of an inch... what's that in decimals? Do you divide the denominator by the numerator or the other way around?

Just buy a ruler that starts at 0. It's about 97 cents.

Or how about a cloth tape measure. Any opinions on that?

If you can get a cloth tape to do bone pressed , then have at it.
