Soy Protein
- Offers a high level of branched-chain amino acids. (BCAA)
- Enhances the production of glutathione, one of the body's natural antioxidants.
- Approximately 95% lactose-free, although isolate whey protein may be 97% lactose-free.
- Dissolves easily in water.
- Derived from milk.
- The only complete protein that is from a plant.
- It contains all of the essential amino acids.
- Cholesterol and lactose-free.
- Has a higher glutamine content than whey.
- Supplies BCAA and arginine.

xxxyamzxxx, I would definitely use Whey Protein if you take it after a workout. And I would take it before the workout too, just before you start. It enhances protein synthesis. Some fast carbohydrates are good too, I don't remember the names since I don't use them but something like dextro or something like that.
I just use a crappy gainer, they usually contain alot of carbs but it's alright
Exactly, and this negates all of its positives, IMO.Monstarr said:Soy Protein contains isoflavones which produce estrogen-like effects in the human body.
Shafty said:Good point, hangh! The importance of pre-workout protein intake is often overlooked. It will enhance protein synthesis and cause a much greater overall anabolic response from the workout if you have plenty of amino acids in your blood WHILE you're lifting. Post-workout intake is crucial, too. And I think the word you were looking for was maltodextrin? Funny thing, though, I never managed to find that anywhere when I lived in the States, so I ended up drinking Gatorade instead (which is pretty much the same except that it has a little more fructose + some minerals and salts).
