DLD,
I have been on the first part of phase 1 now for almost 3 weeks and will be starting the second part on Sun. I have already moved up to 600 jelgs and have been adding the A stretches as part of my routine. The only part I am having difficulty with is isolating the kegel routine. I can do 300 hundred of them without blinking, but when it comes to the 5 second and the 1 minuite holds, I am not sure if I am holding or juist straining. Do you have any suggestions for being able to know if I am doing them correctly or not. I am assuming that I should be on phase 1 for about 4 weeks before trying phase two, and if this is wrong, please correct me. Thank you.

jburg, sounds like you are doing them correct but can't be sure. The same muscle that you use to stop the flow of urine is what you exercise. If you try to hold that muscle to failure you will strain, it may even begin to burn. It is between your anus and the back of your sac. If you feel it there your on target. Most will stay on phase one for 3-4 weeks. If you feel you are ready, then yes, go on to phase 2. I would say that your time with mens-health too you are ready. Good luck.

The longer kegel holds are exactly the same as the short one. It does have a straining type feeling, especially on the really long holds. It sounds like you are doing these correct.

As far as PHASE 2 is concerned I would not switch until you have made all the gains you can on PHASE 1. PHASE 2 should be the next step when you plateau.
