I am planning on doing a biweekly podcast but I have no idea how to go about this. Does anybody have experience in Podcasts and can help me get set up so I can start doing these podcasts. I think this is gonna be a great addition to the brotherhood

So what I need is a step-by-step instructions on how to set up Podcasts and then how to get them on to the forum

I’m not too familiar with podcasts and how to upload but I used to do a lot of audio engineering so I know a lot about microphones/ set ups and audio software to monitor and record your vocals.

Awesome that’ll be a big help. I don’t have a lot of money to invest into audio gear but I still think I have some leftover equipment from when I used to produce music. So I’m hoping I have a decent microphone and I wanted to be able to set up so people can call in or would that be different then a podcast?

Hey DLD:

I have a bunch of recording experience as well, like Born, but I have not done any podcast production.

Is this something you want to take global, with a formal channel on iTunes, Stitcher, etc?

Or more of an internal project for members of the forum?

I wanted to be open to all who want to listen. Like I said I think I have a decent microphone. I would want it on iTunes if it was possible. It would be something I would do for probably 1520 minutes three times a week. I would also like to have them here on the floor on organized so men listen to them.

I know that the Internet is going the way of podcasts and videos so I want to put a lot of my effort into these two areas, in addition to helping in the brotherhood. I know my videos do very well so that’s a no brainer but the Podcasts or something new to me.

The last question on Podcasts would it be like YouTube or you have a page that is called a certain name, let’s say MOS podcasts, and then every single recording would be under that?

Podcasts are just an mp3 recording of your voice or show you do and then you name it add some meta tags like year, what subject is about and you just upload it on mos using the media feature. Then you just make a thread here with all your podcasts organized.

Its pretty simple. Just like uploading songs or spoken word. You can do Audio or Video and just upload it with the Media button in the top header or menu. I set that up a while back when you wanted to do it before.

If you want to stream live, that's another platform.

You dont need no fancy mic or mixing board to get started, you can do everything on the cell phone.

Just download a free voice recorder app and start recording, save file and upload on mos.

I like Audacity for recording, very straight-forward to use, if you use PC. Don't Macs (most of them anyway) come with BandGarage etc., that has recording function?
I have a decent USB microphone myself, but true, things can be done on a phone.

If one is recording, it's good to have a watch on hand, a topic list etc., otherwise it's easy to go long length. :-D I know from experience; making a 10 minute or longer recording of voice/video of just something is so much easier than trying to squeeze stuff into 1 or 2 minutes.
Podcasts in a way are "forgiving" in this time sense, as most are 15-30 minutes long to my understanding. But still, it's good to stay on point and not to linger away too much.

Also, you have Adobe CS5, you can use Sound Booth and the Built in MIc on your LapTop to do this. Then you can record, edit your files

Ok, that sounds like a lot of work ? but once I get it down it should be easy. I already tried on the iPhone using the recording program but the files are huge. Now I understand why. I will try one and see if I can get it online by tomorrow. Thanks for the help, I understand much better.

Make sure you set settings to 128khz mp3 so audio files are small or once you upload, our converter on mos will convert for you.

That is what I will do
