"Jelq/stretch vs hang"
#1
OK I am game.....

I am an old school jelq guy. I have seen the majority of my gains with just wet jelqs, and most recently with regular stretching . My concern has always been with damage by weight hanging . I realize that in most cases I am pulling harder then the weight would be, I just want to know what makes the hang more effective.

From one old school guy to some others. holla back.

I have been hanging on and off for a year now and have had a solid 1 inch gain in that time. I use the Bib hanger its fantastic!! I'm doing 15 lbs over a chair arm for 30 min at a time 10 min break in between the left and right side. So far I'm very happy. I have yet to get a good jelq routine going but its about to happen.

I don't understand by what you mean abiut oullin harder. As for effectiveness, good wrapping and hanger placement, not on the head itself, good warmup also helps.

Make your questions more specific and answers will come, general questions are too open-ended.

Hey DLD good to be here man, missed you over at CC so I thought I would drop in.

Rolo I did not realize that my question was so confusing. I guess it could be simplified.

Why is hanging better then stretching manually?

IMHO the hanging is a constant and difinitive weight. You might be able to pull harder manually, but not at the same consistant amount. Arm fatigue will play a large in the pull after about 5 minutes.

I think the main key to hanging being more effective than stretching ...for many men anyway...not always the case.....is the fact that with hanging ...you use a set weight level (resistance) and that weight level remains constant for 15 or 20 minutes at a time. Not many guys can hold a good, hard stretch for 15 or 20 minutes straight without wearing out their grip. Keeps your hands free. Stretching DOES work....for many men it's a matter of preference. Although for someone like myself who has the time available to hang several hours a day....I thoroughly recommend hanging . I've seen a 1/2" length increase over the last 5 weeks.
