Home Security Project

Recently I decided that I wanted to have a security camera record motion on the front side of my house. Lots of shit been happening in my area, and i suspect the rubbish that magically appears in my yard every couple of weeks is from my neighbour who has something against me, and anything to do with me (even my galah).

Anyway, for the past few days I have had my high quality Kodak DVC325 Webcam pointed out the window into the yard, but it looks really unprofessional just having a camera pointing out the window, so I decided to make a little project for myself and have a little fun.

Check out the following pictures. :)

p.s. I even have it streaming to the internet :)

Very cool but you should get infra vision on that thing. =)
Beacause most illegal activities happens at the nocturnal hours.

Looking good anyway :)

Yup i was thinking about that earlier on actually, but i don't have that sort of money (hence why i didnt get an expensive indoor/outdoor IP camera instead) :D.

I plan to fit a sensor floodlight later so if anything does happen at night the garden can be illuminated.

haha that looks sweet

how much did the cam cost?
I actually got the cam almost 2.5 years ago - It was the last of its kind, Kodak weren't making any more and the stores over here just wanted to get rid of them. It cost me a very low $89 (Australian Dollars) and it even has a CCD Image Sensor (the cheaper cams - logitech quickcam and the like - usually only have a CMOS sensor which has a horrible picture output compared to CCD).

I may as well mention the rest of the costs here as well...

The Camera Mount & Enclosure (sold separatly) cost AUD$68.90, and I also needed to pick up a 3 metre USB extension cable which was AUD$29.95.

Far from paranoid. I've always been one to blow things out of proportion when it comes to technology. If I have a cam around the house that i don't use, and there is something i can use it for, then you better believe i'm going to use it!!! :D

And if I'm going to use it, it's just gotta look good (i.e. not sitting on the windowsill pointing out the window. :D
