i know this doesn't belong here but i figured a lot more people would see it in this section. A couple of days ago I opened up a post in the paradise section with aria giovanni. Since then i have been getting pop-ups like crazy. My computer is locking up and just giving me all around trouble. What can I do to fix this problem? Has anyone ran into this problem? please help this isn't even my computer. it belongs to the family i am staying with this week and all kind of pop-ups are showing up along with every type of advertisement. thank you

try using ad aware by lavasoft.com sounds like you got spy ware

It's www.lavasoft.nu then click Downloads under where it says >Support on the left. That should remove most spyware, if it is a spyware problem, which it most likely is. Also if the operating system they use is Windows XP, the service pack 2 just came out which adds an integrated pop-up blocker to Internet Explorer.

I use HistoryKill to block pop-up. Spybot search and destroy for spyware also with ad-aware 6.0. Then after usin those I use registry Mechanic.

Yeah, download spybot S&D - it's free and it works great. You may want to also download CWShredder, which takes care of some nasty spyware/trojans that spybot can't.

I use so many diff programs its insane, try the new adaware se version..works with all the new stuff quite well. Try to get a popup blocker, go to www.download.com and download one of the toprated popup blockers and adaware of course..spybot works too. I use panda antivirus as well, stops a lot of the webpage applets that try to install trojans and other cookie criters. im a pirater though..after a while all this stuff would be expensive...just try em' out. :)

ok i downloaded and ranned spybot, ad adware, and cwshredder and the problem still exist...he keeps erasing my home page and i still get pop ups...i appreciate all the help you guys are offering...i wonder why it isn't working though

(1) goto spywareinfo , and SEARCH for the name of your homepage that you keep getting diverted to (usually the last word and extension in the url). For better results when searching, try placing the name in " " marks. I usually find that alot of other people have the same problem.... And find out how they fixed it.

try downloading "hijackthis" (search for it on google) {and post up the hijackthis log on the spywareinfo message board....someone will help you and tell you what entries to delete...... DON"T JUST GO AROUND DELETING STUFF FOUND IN THE HJT log.... KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO DELETE.
