Fijians renounce witchcraft
Radio New Zealand |
"A group of villagers in the interior of Fiji are giving up the worship of ancestral gods and the practice of witchcraft more than 120 years after the people in the area converted to Christianity. The Fiji Times reports that members of the district of Navosa have conducted a spiritual cleansing exercise by removing all artifacts used for heathen gods, and giving them to the Methodist Church. The newspaper says the exercise was prompted by the fear of being cursed."
