Opinions, anybody? I personally am 100% convinced that the universe is teeming with life. No matter how far out of our reach it may be, the mere notion that we are not alone in this seemingly endless universe fascinates me.

I'm not quite sure about extraterrestrials visiting earth, though. I mean it would certainly explain a lot of things, but there is still the problem of HOW they'd be able to get here from such distances. Oh well, maybe whatever propulsion systems their crafts use are beyond the comprehension of modern science and physics, just like airplanes and cars would have seemed to people a couple of centuries ago.

Whatever the truth may be, as long as there is even a slight chance that a very tiny amount of the overflow of evidence pointing towards their existance and presence here on earth is true, I shall remain curious and actively seek out more info on the subject. If all of this could somehow be proven beyond doubt, it would indeed be the single most important event in human history.

I have witnessed unexplained aerial phenomena myself, and whatever it was I can say for certain that it wasn't a plane, bird or weather balloon. It made manouvers that would have been beyond the capacity of any craft that exists today. Here's the sucky part though: I saw this near Area 51. Pretty corny, huh? That statement probably killed the credibility of my story completely. Be as it may, that is where I saw it... and I'm not jumping to the conclusion that it was extraterrestrial in origin, I just thought I'd mention it since it fits into this category.

Alright, what are your opinions on this?

I think the Universe is too damn huge for there NOT to be other life in it. Whatever that life may be is probably so beyond our comprehension, that they are probably already here, and we just don't see them.

Know what I'm trying to say?

There are also other dimensions to think about too. Imagine looking through a microscope....the most powerful one in the world....now amplify that view a couple billion times...there's a whole other UNIVERSE within that!

Like our own solar system could just be the contents of a dust ball under the bed of a being so goddamn large that we are cannot ever comprehend it.

Now I'm bugging out, man!

Just not on this board...

lol

I wouldn't be surprised if life were common in the universe. Our own planet earth, which formed 4.55 billion years ago (+or- 1%) saw life develop within 1 billion years. The oldest known fossils of living things date back 3.4 billion years, and probably existed before that. So probably within a few hundred million years after the surface cooled and the rain of asteroids and comets subsided, life (DNA) arose. That's really pretty quick in astronomical terms.

For all the knowledge mankind has amassed over the years, we still don't know jack shit about anything.

There are some great theories out there, but no one really knows anything for certain.

People feel comfortable accepting theory as fact all the time because they can't think of a better explanation. How do you think the concept of a God became so popular?

Belief in a God or a greater being, creator, etc...frees you up from really trying to figure anything out.

Life from elsewhere coming here and making itself known to us would be great since it would disprove most religious beliefs held by humans and it would just mindfuck everyone on the planet.

But think about this... if there was something that existed that you've never ever seen before, and it was right in front of you, would you see it?

If you took a tribesman who's never been out of the jungle and showed him a city skyline, what would he see? He wouldn't see buildings or skyscrapers, would he? He'd see something different because he has no comprehension of what a structure like that really is.

I think that experiment has been done before, but I'm not sure.

"Aliens" may even be right here among us right now...but would we really "see" them?

I just hope we dont piss any of them off after sending out that probe with every shred of information about our world and how we live. Ah its a good road map for them anyways.

Who says that "they" are not here already?!

If you can get close enough, tear off George W. Bush's face to reveal the lizard head underneath the mask. It's true!

i think the odds are good that the universe, perhaps infinately large, contains an unfathomable amount of life, as we understand it and otherwise.

i think it is even more likely that the human race will be dead and gone and the sun burnt out before any of that life comes across our little rock.

it's big and cold out there . . . really big . .
