"Officer Cory Forister denied making the gesture intentionally but was fired for conduct unbecoming an officer, police Chief Anthony Stephens said. Forister made the gesture Tuesday during the Humane Society class that Bixby officers were required to attend after he shot a 6-year-old golden retriever named Fluppy on June 5. Fluppy had to be euthanized. Three television stations that covered the class broadcast video of Forister making the gesture... Fluppy was the pet of John and Cathy Benzinger and their three children. Forister was investigating a burglar alarm at the Benzingers' home when the dog, tethered by a 43-foot line, barked and charged him. Forister backed up and told the dog to stop, then fired three shots."
