Hey Dld, or any long-time pe guys that have done a lot of manual stretching and jelqing for at least a few years- do you ever experience any pain or numbness or stiffness in your hands? Anyone ever develop carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis or anything like that? I've been doing a lot of manual work lately and it just occurred to me that it may not be so great for the hands and wrists. I use a lengthmaster and extender also but I still like to do manual work to round out my routine.

Around three years ago I was doin manual labor, liftin weights, pe'ing, snorting about half a gram of black tar heroin / day
The smack deprived me of sleep, and nourishment which lead to carpal tunnel symptoms in one hand. Today I'm not using, and eating well, but the godsend is that I seemed to have pe'd thru the wrist pain. I can still get pins n needles feeling if I try but, i believe the worst is over

That's good you stopped using. I have seen so many friends and even some family get their lives ruined by drugs and alcohol. But do you think your symptoms were brought about by the manual pe stuff you were doing?

it's possible. could also cause issues related to forward/rounded shoulders which can also lead to any numbness/tingling/burning sensations through the arms and/or hands.

I thought about that too, how you always have to kind of hunch over and be in these weird positions that are definitely not anatomically or ergonomically correct. It seems like it may not be so great for the back either.

My hands and wrists only became stronger as I advanced in PE. After 13 years in I have no issues with hand or wrist problems.

Nice. How about back or shoulder issues? Any weird joint pain or posture problems?

I have always had issues with my shoulders and back due to weight gain and loss I experience every year. I don't think any of it is because of Pe, I think it is more carrying that extra weight and then losing it.

If pe is hurting your wrists you should really try to strengthen them or you could have problems

Yes, you can get hand strengtheners that work very well but PE, in itself, will strengthen the hands and arms.

My wrists aren't hurting at all. My hands are good. I was just getting paranoid and wondering if it could cause problems after years of doing it. Back and shoulders too.

Never heard of anyone w/ hand/wrist problems from manual PE. It's especially good that the LM is around to help prevent that. I can't imagine the sales if hand/wrist problems were widespread throughout the community.

Have heard of people having back problems though w/ hanging. Not sure how long term that was.

i know i have wrist pain and there are time when PE is a bitch to do. it could potentially cause problems, but probably no more than all the other things we do every day like using a keyboard.

Any pain I do get in my hands is definitely due to the keyboard. When you spend all day typing it can sometimes cause pain.

You have nothing to worry about. You can use the length master to do all the needed length exercises excluding __________ stretch.
