So I've read various posts in body building forums that say the best way to get cut abs six pack like is to cut belly fat but at the same time you need to sculpt abs by doing upper and lower abs doing situps etc, just how important is fat burning when it comes to sculpting abs I don't know, also as far as age playing a factor I'm sure there has to be some kind of lack of HGH as we get older so I have to wonder if that needs be supplemented? I hear about all these types supplements that are for abs but I don't really have much faith in them especially if they are fat burners, any thoughts on this?
Thanks

Hey CK,
You mention age but don’t mention your age. If you want a usable response, you have to give details.

In a general response, abs are a bitch.
You have to spend a lot of time to have a six pack because it requires a good full body routine and then added core workouts on top of it.

How much time are you willing to put in? How much time do you already put in? What is your current workout?

As for supplents, if you are older, on top of your normal supplements (creatine, arginine, whey protein, etc) you can add a testo supplement (Testofuel or Prime-T) and a HGH (the only one worth taking in my opinion is HumanoGrowth) to kick the fat burning into gear (and improve your sleep something amazing).

I am sure some others will chime in but the more info you share the better the advice you will get.

Good luck!

From my personal experience, it's about shedding excess bodyfat. Most men have some level of abdominal muscles already with little need to further develop them. Especially if you have any history of weight training or physical fitness. If you have excess bodyfat, it's going to be harder to see your abs.

Considering the fact your average Joe over consumes calories and is usually in a caloric excess in direct contradiction to what his body needs daily.....

I shy away from recommending "supplements" without knowing anything about someone personally. I don't know what your existing health conditions are, what your hormone levels are like, your personal habits, to include actual daily caloric intake and so on are.

Sorry I hadn't mentioned my stats since I posted in intros, anyway, I"m 53, 5'8 lean, little body fat, I recently posted some of my routine in fav workout equipment, it goes like this, I don't go to a gym it's all at home, yoga, Tai Chi, shake weights, free weights, perfect push ups, I do a hot form of yoga called the Tibetan Rites, it's pretty intense and works every muscle group, I try to do upper body about 30 mins. one day and lower the next and alternate to allow for repair. As far as diet I'm plant based, take a plant based shake daily, try to consume as much completed proteins as possible like beans and rice, take b vitamin supplements, what really is a challenge is my existing health condtion I suffer from untreated minor to moderate sleep apnea, CPAP doesn't work for me, not much else as far as physical conditions go.

CK,
You are lean and already very healthy.... yet still asking about how to get a six pack.
Hence, my original statement of abs are a bitch.

I think with were you are at, you are very close.
Add 100 kettlebell Swings to your routine 3 or 4 days a week.
Use a good weight, not too light, and do 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 reps with a minute rest between sets.
With were you are at, you should see some new definition within four weeks.
Just make sure you keep your protein intake up.

Good luck!

Sounds good, I just need to get a kettlebell, what weight do you recommend I get? Will swings benefit other muscle groups as well? Thanks

I would guess something in the 35-50 pound range but that is a total guess.
If you are in the States then look at Dicks Sporting goods and get the adjustable Kettlebell, it will save you a bunch of money trying to figure out what weight or as you progress.

CyberKen,

Updates?
Were you able to get a KettleBell that worked for you?
What weight did you decide to start out?
Do you have a routine you like and what are your thoughts?

I know you are just getting going but was curious how things are starting.

This. There is an old saying "abs are made in the kitchen" all you need to show your abs is very low body fat. Growing abs muscles, not even "that" necessary because your abs are part of what helps you keep balance. Therefore YOU HAVE abs muscles already. If you did not have them, you would fold in half and fall to the floor. The reason why you dont see them is because of the amount of fat on them.

Now age makes a difference. When you're young between 16-25 natural hormone levels are high and fat metabolism works in a different way. As you age, it will be easier to deposit fat in the abdomen, just like women deposit fat in their thighs and butt.

It is extremely difficult after 35-40 to achieve a natural 6 pack. Any adult with them wether is a model, actor, celebrity, sports player, they use anabolic steroids and human growth hormone.

That is EXTREMELY dangerous for health as it does not cover micronutrients and nutritional science.

I may just have mine tattooed on, that way their permanent no matter how fat I am?

Easiest way to get 'visible' abs:
Everybody has abs, it's just not visible on the most people as they're having higher bodyfat percentage than the bodyfat percetage which will let your abs be visible, which starts at maybe around 18%, a little bit higher or lower, depending on genetics and where your body stores the fat.
But at around this percentage it's only visible when you flex very hard and you won't look shredded nor have shredded abs.
For that, you would need to be between around 8-12% bodyfat percentage.

Track calories, and be in a calorie deficit (burn more than you take in) until you reach your goal.
You could also eat just sweets and lose weight if you are in a calorie deficit, but I'd still recommend to eat healthy.
With eating healthy the most easy version would be: Don't eat anything processed and cook yourself, so you know what's in there :)

Everybody has abs. If you want thick and muscular abs, do basic strength exercises: Squats, Deadlifts, Bench, Pullups, Pushups.
All of the basic exercises are training the abs and lower back, which will give you strong abs.

But yes, if you also do some normal abs exercises, like 5-10min abs workouts it won't hurt the process LOL actually it's even good because it pumps blood into your abs and makes it a little bit more visible.

No need for supplements, no need for any BS overpriced workout plans.

Hope that helps, maybe one day you (@cyberken53) come back and read it or it may help some others here :)

Just go to Jim’s liquor and get yourself a six pack of Foster’s and just fucking get drunk off your ass. Or is this not the type a six pack you’re talking about.

I would've taken you for a dark, thick, coffee bitter IPA man, or at the very least Mickeys grenades for a piss variety...

I do not drink anything but red wine and that’s once a day while I pray. But you got me right I am a dark coffee guy. I hate beer but I love cannabis. Maybe they can make a beer infused with cannabis and then I’ll be coming alcoholic.
