Hi everyone, new to the site. I made a modification to the Bathmate Hydromax that works well, I thought I'd share it.
I have the Hydromax X30 and the X40. I was at the girth limit on the X30 when I got it, but decided to keep it anyway. I thought about getting the Xtreme, but in my opinion they were charging $150 for about $15 worth of material, plus a towel and bottle brush. I did a little research after I wasn't completely pleased with the function.
First off, I'm almost 60, and a "grower, not a show-er." So that meant in order to displace enough water to cause an erection and some stretching, I needed to pump the gaiter several times, which wasn't very comfortable. I needed a way to remove more water from the tube. I tried the Wine Vac mod, but as it has no check valve you must retain the Bathmate "pip" valve, resulting in a poor seal, and it took many pumps to remove enough water to get results. I removed the pip and measured the hole in the release valve (the black plastic spring loaded valve on top) and it was the correct size to use a pipe tap to give it 1/8 NPT threads. I very carefully cut some threads in the plastic. Keep in mind NPT stands for National Pipe Taper, so the tap gets larger the farther in you go, which could result in splitting the valve. I purchased a brass fitting, 1/8 NPT male to 1/4 male hose barb, any hardware store will have these. I tapped the plastic just enough to screw in the fitting for a snug fit. Again, use caution so you don't break it. I got a couple feet of clear nylon 1/4 inch tubing to fit on the hose barb, then I just needed a primer ball, like the one Bathmate uses on their Xtreme series. Get one with 1/4 hose fittings on each end, I saw them on Amazon. Make sure they have a check valve on one end, so the water can only flow one way. I used one meant for a Bobcat skid loader, it's used for priming the diesel injection pump. Don't worry, I looked up the part number a bought a new one. It was under $15. Make sure you install it so the water can only flow away from the pump. Then use it as normal, only instead of ramming the tube into your crotch you just pump the ball. I used enough tubing so the ball stays submerged in the water. With the stock X30 I could only get enough suction to go from my usual 5.5 inches up to 6 inches, as measured using the Bathmate scale on the unit. With my mod I can pump to 6.5 on the first 5 minutes, and to 7 on the third 5 minutes.
It all about removing the water from the Bathmate. I've only done this on the X30 and X40, so I can't comment on others. This allows the stock pip to be reinstalled if you wish as long as you do not damage the plastic release valve. I'm certain this will void the warranty, so proceed at your own risk. I'm a mechanic and used to using taps and dies, it takes a little skill.
I hope this helps, it was under $30 including a new pipe tap.

Awesome work! Is there any possible way to see pictures of the process? This will help Brothers understand better. I really appreciate it!

The tap is 1/8 NPT, any hardware store has them. The brass fitting is 1/8 NPT Male to 1/4 inch hose barb. Clear nylon tubing, also any hardware store. The bulb is from a Bobcat dealer, 1/4 hose barb on each end. Any primer bulb or hand pump will work, just make sure it has a check valve and that you install it the correct direction, so it pumps water out of the Bathmate. Again, you must be very careful tapping the valve. If you've never used a tap and die set before, perhaps Google or Youtube for a tutorial. The hardest part is keeping the valve from spinning while cutting the threads, I used soft jaw pliers used for chrome plumbing fittings and such.
I find this works best in the bathtub. Note that I use the shower strap, which must be on before you attach the tubing. I pump until the bulb stay collapsed, then keep it submerged with a finger over the discharge port to prevent leakage. Whereas the standard pump only got me to 6 inches, which was my regular erect length, my mod pumps me to 7. Only been pumping for three weeks, and only with my mod 3 times now, but I expect good gains.

Very interesting, but my VacuVin cork has a one-way valve that works similarly to The BM valve...

Same here ...

I would say Big Grouch's modification is a hardcore BM modification! But without pictures there's only so much to tell. And then there's the factor "takes a bit of skill", where the other mods are way more simple and still there's some confusion at times.
Would be very interesting to see the setup regardless, it's always intriguing what people come up with for better workouts!

Photos are not showing up, please email me the pictures and I will upload. guru.dld@gmail.com

Pics. Yes, it takes some careful application of a pipe tap. I've been tapping threads in metal for 45 years. I used dish soap as a lube on the tap. Then it's trial and error, only tap far enough so the fitting will screw in easy. The hardest part is preventing the valve from rotating when cutting the threads.

I triad the Vacuvin, but it only removes a small amount of water with each cycle. As I said, I'm almost 60 so I rely on the suction to get an erection, I'm not wasting a Viagra every day. So with a flaccid penis going in I need to displace a lot of water, my mod works excellent for this.

That makes perfect sense...I'm not too many years behind you :)

Thanks for the pictures Big Grouch, very neat looking modification! I've only tapped one old cheap pump which eventually broke (this was long before my venture to BM and so on, the tapping wasn't so much to blame but the material of the pump; or so I tell myself), so I know the practise a little bit, but surely your experience shows up in the pictures very well!

Excellent job! Be that I were at home and had the garage at my disposal, this seems quite doable, but for now I'm OK with "just" Vacu-vin.

Also, welcome onboard Big Grouch!

Thank you so much, I so appreciate this and I am sure the rest of the Brotherhood!

Bathmate is a great pump but the mityvac is far better

The bathmate is the reason why I haven't made girth gains for 9 years and 11 months. The mityvac came to my rescue. Now I can pump without sciatica nerve pain.

Just a better pump...nothing compares
