Army stretched to breaking point
CNN |
"The Army will prevent soldiers in units set to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan from leaving the service at the end of their terms, a top general said Wednesday. The announcement, an expansion of an Army program called 'stop-loss,' means that thousands of soldiers who had expected to retire or otherwise leave the military will have to stay on for the duration of their deployment to those combat zones... Previously, the Army had prevented soldiers from leaving certain units scheduled for deployment to Afghanistan or Iraq. But Wednesday's move is the first time since September 11, 2001, that the stop-loss program has been ordered so widely. The announcement comes as the Army is struggling to find fresh units to continue the occupation of Iraq. Almost every Army combat unit has faced or will face deployment there or in Afghanistan."

Bring Our Boys Home! We Have Enough Oil!
Unfortunately we don't. Cut off middle-east oil and America instantly goes back to the stone ages and we get overrun by Chinese tanks sooner or later as they certainly won't have any moral qualms about taking over all of asia and all of the oil and they have the military manpower to actually do it, just not the technology and weaponry quite yet. In less than a generation it is estimated China will have a larger economy than the United States, so we are going to need all the oil we can get when that day comes.

After capturing the new secret U.S stealth plane the Chinese engineers were very pleased to discover, that all the parts had the "Made in China" label on them...But seriously MCTFB has a point; militarily speaking China has the biggest air-force and infantry in the world. They have nuclear weapons(not willing to give them up either). The economy is growing at increadibly rapid rates,Hong-Kong for example is the biggest business center in all of Asia, and probably 3rd biggest after New York and London. Technology and weaponry...hard to say, only the government itself knows.

I don't fear China. As they grow more accustomed to the material comforts of capitalism they will become just as indolent as us Americans and find themselves suddenly more concerned with whether Ben and J-Lo are breaking up than anything as silly as world domination.
There are a lot of those mofo's though. What's their population at 1.5 billion or something now?

And BTW - we don't receive the bulk of our oil supply from the mid-east anyway. I think it's Russia and Venezuala now who keep us hopped up on that shit now.

Our jones for oil could change and I wouldn't mind.
