Me and my lady have been vegan for about a year now. I use to be real sluggish all the time and making the change to vegan, changed my life and attitude. We were still drinking soda up to about 5 months ago but we stopped that as well. Its amazing how much more clear my mind is and how much more productive I am. Plus my health has improved 10 fold. We made the change for health and humanity.

I have learned how to cook some really good vegan dishes. For Christmas I cooked an entire vegan dinner for my family (Turkey, Stuffing, Gravy, Garlic Mashed, Mac & Cheese, Pecan Pie and they had no idea it was vegan, they kept going back for more. After they ate I told them.

I also made an incredible vegan chili for my lady's family cookout and they all ate it and took some home. I later announced it was vegan and everyone was bugging out.

I went vegeterian for like two weeks two years ago. I gained lot of fat, I wouldn't thougth it possible in just two weeks. Lost some muscle too along with some strength. So I'm not going back. From what I know it's not that great from a health standpoint. There are some articles at TNation that go over that. However if somebody goes vegan/vegeterian for ethical/moral/religious reasons I'm not gonna say anything. But as long as it comes to going for this kind of diet for health, I personally don't think it's the good choice.

Sounds like you weren't eating properly. The only thing you really lack in a vegan diet is B-12 if you eat right. I started doing B-12 injections once a month. I eat Burgers, philly cheesesteaks, chicken sandwiches, BLTs, grilled cheeses, etc all plant based. I even made a vegan Popeyes Chicken the other night and it was extremely good! I am having more fun preparing vegan meals than I ever had preparing a steak. It is a great challenge for me.

So wait, are you eating meat substitutes made out of soy/vegetables or are you actually eating steak, burgers, turkey, and chicken?

Being a vegetarian means your diet is non-meat, and you avoid eating anything that's been soaked in animal fat. This includes fish, pork, poultry, and beef.

So if you're looking for a can of beans and it says "CONTAINS PORK" you should put the can back on the shelf and find an alternative.

Being vegan takes it a step further and you avoid products that have dairy/eggs/etc, anything that came from a living creature.

I've been a vegetarian for six years, it was extremely difficult to transition into the diet at first but now it's extremely difficult to stray from the lifestyle. You're always reading labels (which is a good thing) and eating better, unless your diet consists of junk food. There's a lot of health benefits to the lifestyle if you eat right.

There's some sexual benefits too, as you're probably eating more fruit (watermelon, l-arginine), and berries. (strawberries, aphrodisiac) Eating fruits supposedly makes semen taste more sweeter for your partners. Things like alcohol, asparagus, cigarettes, and meat make it taste bitter. If you're just eating a bunch of fruits, beans, legumes, rice, veggies (sans asparagus) every day your dates are likely to go down on you more often.

I've overheard my coworkers complaining about giving their husbands/boyfriends blowjobs and they refuse to do it because "it tastes so bad." I recommended that they tell their partners to start eating more fruits/veggies and less meat at least a day before sex.

I think the only annoying thing about being a vegetarian is the lack of veggie friendly options at some restaurants, and when people get offended that you won't eat meat. "Well then you can have the SALAD." Dude, I don't want to "just eat salad." Give me a portabello mushroom burger or a three bean chili or lentil soup with a fruit smoothie and I'll be good.

Yes, I am completely vegan. I do not eat any meat, cheese, eggs, dairy or any type or animal bi-products what so ever. I make most of my food with beans and grains. I really don't have to read labels anymore because I usually eat the same things all the time or a variance of them.

If I eat out I usually get sushi, Indian, mexican, chinese or vegan restaurants.

the cows i eat are vegan!!

True. I think it is wrong to kill plants:)

My diet is about 40-50% raw fruits and vegetables. 30-40% cooked foods such as mainly soups of all kinds, meats(no pork), fish, oils like olive oil and seed oil, eggs, potatoes. Then 20% is miscellaneous like nuts, raisins, etc.

This is one if the things I am thinking about as well- whether to start this or not. but meat is the number 1 protein source (eggs coming second) and vegans aren't even allowed to eat eggs... Isn't food a bit tasteless? Do you really feel improvements in the health department?

Are you still a vegan? Or the temptation was just too much for you to handle?
