I don't think this topic has been covered here at MOS...I didn't find anything on a search, but I think it is important, especially with many college aged Penis Enlargement'ers and the fact many Penis Enlargement'ers have insecurities. So I wanted to start an open discussion about it. Please feel free to respond with any relevant inputs

So, some things to think about:

What is alcoholism? There are different definitions and interpretations of what alcoholism is... which one is right?

Is an alcoholic someone who drinks every day? But what if its only one glass of wine or one beer?

How many drinks in a session do you need to consume to be an 'alcoholic'? Is this different for weight, gender, tolerance?

What is the reason people drink? Depression, socially, relaxing

Are you an alcoholic if you only drink to get 'buzzed' and not actually drunk?

I personally think what is an alcoholic is very hard to determine. There are obviously the full blown ones that have a drink in the morning with their breakfast but the ones on the border of what is and what is not an alcoholic are hard to define.

Most college kids would be considered alcoholics, but does that mean they will continue to drink after college? I don't know. I graduated from college last year, and drank pretty heavily early on, but cut back near the end. I still find myself drinking probably more than I should some weeks, but I do not drink every night like I use to (I probably drink 3-4 times a week). I also don't drink to get 'shit-faced.' I like to have a couple beers or whatever and unwind while I watch T.V. at night after work/dinner or when I go out with my friends.

Some would think what I do is considered an alcoholic b/c I drink to 'relax' or that I am a bing drinker b/c sometimes I have more than 4-5 drinks in one sitting but never get drunk, just maintain a bit of a buzz (and remember I don't do this every night). But I'm also a big guy at 6'4 and 210 lbs. 4 drinks to me is not the same as 4 drinks to a 100 pound girl who probably hasn't eaten anything for the last 3 days or if they had, they probably have thrown it up. I personally just think this is what a normal 20 something year old does, I don't consider it to be alcoholism

Reading about alcoholism has always freaked me out a bit, especially while in college b/c I knew I was displaying 'alcoholic' (I am using the term loosely here) tendencies. But something like 80% of college students show these same tendencies. Now being out of college it's as though I still could be defined as an alcoholic even though I was able to easily reduce my intake and the number of nights a week I drink. I mean, I never crave alcohol during the day (unless its been an extremely bad day and I think we've all been there)

And when you think about it, people always say the first stage of this or that addiction is denial. But wouldn't you deny that you are an alcoholic or an addict if you actually weren't? Seems like a double-edged sword there.

I think most people who drink at all can fit into some sort of category of an alcoholic in one of the numerous interpretations, or if they don't know, at one point in their life they could have.

In my opinion I don't think that there can ever be a perfect definition of what an alcoholic is. Everybody is different plain and simple. I think if you are able to go off alcohol for a week or month or whatever and not absolutely NEED it, and you don't start shaking and going through withdrawal you most likely aren't an alcoholic. If you go out (or stay in) every night, and get super drunk for the sole purpose of getting super drunk, I would have to place you in the alcoholic category.

So thats sort of my story and my opinion on the matter, please post anything you all are feeling on the matter

My teacher said that, alcoholics are not the people you usually see on the streets drunk, such as bums, its really those who drink after work and sometimes before.
And do that nearly everyday.
They usally are a shamed of what they're doing and hides the liquor.
At those times they are alone.
I didn't mean people who parties after work at some occautions.
There are many signs of becoming an alcoholic.
I think you'll need to find out in a search-engine like google, altavista....

My father was that type of alcoholic, when i was little, he were agressive sometimes.
Nowdays he dont work because of bad a back. He dont drink anything stronger then 2.8%(beer), and its always after 6:00 PM.
So i dont know if he still are addicted to it, i believe so. I guess you learn to deny. But he dont drink many of them, i know on my inside that it makes his brain get in a trance. Cant he drink soda or something? He says beer in normal amounts are really good for the body...

I think that drinking more than 1 or 2 when you are alone is not a good thing at all and I have always avoided that.

Hiding liqour or whatever else is also a sign that something is wrong...if you feel like you have to hide it or are ashamed, then you definitely are in denial b/c those who have nothing to hide literally wont have anything to hide....

btw, I don't want this to turn into a thread where people think that I am an alcoholic and need comforting, advice, etc...I sort of thought some people could think that when I was typing it but I honestly am not one. I don't drink more than 2 beers if I am alone, and 95% of the time I drink it is socially when I go out or have people over. All I was doing was describing my story and that people can perceive it as being an 'alcoholic' b/c of some of the tendencies in it.

I more or less just want to get peoples views on the topic of alcoholism and how they define it and see it. And hopefully it can help someone who reads it if they are strugglng themself

I've been there before, when I was about 20. I would wake up and get a 40 ounce, and continue to drink throughout the day, everyday. I would even go to the local grocery store and rip off a bottle of whatever I could, Madd Dog 20/20 was so easy to steal because of where they had it and the shape of the bottle. All this drinking made me crazy. I could not go without it. I had no job, really had no home, and was worthless to society. To make a long story short my drinking caused me legal consequences and ended up in the state penal system for 3 years.
Now days I drink only once or twice a week. I do it at home. However there are times I catch myself going back to a pattern of heavy drinking. So I gotta check myself. I go on spells where I drink everyday after work, for up to a month at a time. Usually when I 'm going through stressful situations. The I recollect myself, and go back to once a week like on sat nite. I'd say I can manage my drinking but its not under control all the time. I try to remember where I came from, and where I have been due to my drinking. This helps me screw my head back on straight and be responsible again. I have not had a heavy drinking spell for about 6 months now, I plan to keep it that way!

I believe if alcohol is causing problems in your life of any kind the your are or becoming an alcoholic.

I am not much of a drinker. All I can really add to this is:

It might not make you an alcoholic, But: If you have to drink to have a good time ( and most people I know do), there is something wrong with you.

It so depends on the person and the situation. I mean is alcohol something new to them? Was it once forbidden and now they can get their hands on it.? Is alcohol part of their culture? I know German exchange students that had zero problems drinking unlike the rest of the kids here.

Is the person just a binge drinker? If provided with free or very cheap liquor do they drink? Binge drinkers are not the same creature as an alcoholic. If so every college kid is virtually an alcoholic. Alcoholics are a bitch to be. They don't stop or grow out of it like a binge drinker does. A binge drinker graduates, tries to find a job, gets one, and drinks much more infrequently. Sometimes once a week they will go down too. Party and dates on the weekend.
